I just dont' understand the GOP agenda. I really don't. Some things I "understand" from a point of just being greedy assholes, but this? Climate change? Being rich ain't going to help you when one of many catastrophes may destroy us.
But then again, these people only think of themselves in the here and now. The future doesn't matter, especially when it's far enough away that they'll be dead anyhow.

And the hypocrisy of the Christian right strikes again. The bible says over and over again that we are to be stewards of the earth and that end times come once you destroy it.

They want the red states to be their own fiefdoms with little federal oversight while at the same time tapping into fed coffers via the blue states that almost entirely fund the federal government. So yes, money and power is what they want. Tale as old as time.

We should be very alarmed. In addition to this and all of the other shit they’ve pulled this week, they’ve agreed to hear Moore v Harper, which allows for voter suppression, gerrymandering, and partisan interference in ballot counting.
Heather Cox Richardson is rightly calling this a Constitutional crisis.
This was their plan all along, right? Exhaust us with dealing with the orange menace for years, gaslight us, and then BAM BAM BAM strip away all of our rights?
At what point do the people go to the streets? I mean it IS a constitutional crisis!

This isn't just about the environment. They are working to strip government agencies of any regulatory authority. They want congress to pass EVERY single regulation as law. Can you imagine anyone in congress passing a million laws on pollution particles or any other small detail of any agency. Its a horrible mess. They are working on dismantling the gov.
I feel like I understand now how helpless people feel in countries run by dictators or where their political systems fall apart. As a kid, learning world history, I always wondered "why didn't they do anything?" This is why. Because what the fuck am I supposed to do about this? My God. I don't know how to help fix this.
It’s like they’re trying to CREATE rapture. Except their way, no one ever wakes up.
What an awful feeling. All of this.
I really do think this is part of it. It’s also why they aren’t concerned with gun violence because they think righteous victims will be in heaven. They look forward to death. They think life on earth is and should be difficult. So we all suffer because they have this outsized power.

I came here to say this but you’ve covered it. The decision is absolutely sobering in its own right when it comes to the EPA and climate.
Outside of this context, it amounts to a complete disarming of the powers of all federal agencies and the regulatory process. This is very bad news for health care and probably just as mad for every other function the government has too.
