I’m at 146 for the year so far! I do track a lot! A spreadsheet, GoodReads, the summer reading program for my city and this year I’m doing StoryGraph. I’m also tagging books I didn’t finish this year in StoryGraph out of curiosity. I started and didn’t finish 83 books so far in 2022! LOL
June was a busy month! I did read a few graphic memoirs but still, I read a lot.
I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy (great book, awful story)
I Left the House Today! by Cassandra Calin (cute)
Quiet Girl in a Noisy World: An Introvert's Story by Debbie Tung (I have some questions about her, I think she has a new one coming out that might clear somethings up?)
Book Love by Debbie Tung (cute)
Happily Ever After & Everything In Between by Debbie Tung (still have some questions about her)
The Foundling by Ann Leary (promising but flat)
The Latecomer by Jean Hanff Korelitz (I liked it! Love a messy family)
Under Her Care by Lucinda Berry (very bad)
Are You Awake? by Claire McGowan (fun)
Controlled Explosions by Claire McGowan (good backstory)
The Messy Lives of Book People by Phaedra Patrick (blah)
More Than You'll Ever Know by Katie Gutierrez (great and excellent research!)
Tell Me Everything: The Story of a Private Investigation by Erika Krouse (I have questions about her too)
Counterfeit by Kirstin Chen (cute)
See You Yesterday by Rachel Lynn Solomon (cute)
The Hotel Nantucket by Elin Hilderbrand (fun, easy, could have been a little tighter)
Kings of B'More by R. Eric Thomas (major disappointment)
Flying Solo by Linda Holmes (disappointing)
Can't Look Away by Carola Lovering (ok)
The House Across the Lake by Riley Sager (very bad)
The Lies I Tell by Julie Clark (ok)
Cover Story by Susan Rigetti (ok)
The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes (cute but I don’t understand the importance of Emily’s death date)
The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han (ok)
Hippie Woman Wild: A Memoir of Life & Love on an Oregon Commune by Carol Schlanger (surprise ending!)
The Hawthorne Legacy by Jennifer Lynn Barnes (still don’t understand the importance of Emily’s death date)
It's Not Summer Without You by Jenny Han (both of these books are like 300 pages long but read like short stories IMO)
June was pretty slow for me. I had a hard time getting into a few of the books so didn't prioritize reading.
When We Lost Our Heads by Heather O'Neill - 4.5* and definitely my favorite of the month
Kaikeyi by Vaishnavi Patel - 3* There was nothing really wrong with this book but I just could not bring myself to give a damn about the plot or characters. I ended up skimming the last 1/3, too stubborn to just put it down.
For the Throne (Wilderwood, #2) by Hannah Whitten - 4* I struggled with the first half of this one but enjoyed the second.
Visual: Eleanor Ophilant is Completely Fine 4* Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline 4* Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover 3* Violin Conspiracy by Brendan Slocumb 4* Life and Other Inconveniences by Kristin Higgins 3*
I just track through goodreads and vacation this month allowed me to get caught up. I’m at 30 of 62
I think I only finished one in June, What’s Mine and Yours by Naima Coster. I’m not sure how I felt about it - I didn’t feel good about the main characters but I’d give a point for the twist near the end. I didn’t see it coming and felt kind of duped, but I thought it added a lot to the story.
I’m terribly off my usual annual pace of at least 52 this year… and am only at 12. 😫 Having a career again is definitely to blame. However, I have started commuting again some, so am trying to read for fun if I can on the days I take the train.

Kind of a slow month for me. Read/finished:
Hooked by Sutton Foster 3.5*'s - very heavy topics, but also lots of light and fluffy Broadway
The Inheritance Games 2.5*'s - this book should have been 100 pages shorter. Took far to long to read.
I got about 50% of the way through "The Arrangement" (Kindle free book). I'll finish it, but not in a rush.
I'm 15/30 (raised my goal from 24) for the year. I track on Goodreads, and all but one of my books so far as has been e-book, so Kindle tracks that too. I may start something else as I worry I'm forgetting something.
