I got my 2nd booster yesterday. Feeling some low level side effects from it, but just barely bad enough I'm using them as an excuse to work from home today.
I'm still not 100% sure I qualify for the 2nd booster, but decided I have enough risk factors to make it a reasonable thing to do. The local county health department does walk in vaccines on Tuesdays and Fridays, so it's easy-peasy... The poor woman who was tasked with doing the shots looked bored out of her mind when I arrived (less than an hour into their walk-in window).
It sounds like the Biden administration is going to okay a second booster for everyone soon. I'm so annoyed that this is coming out after I got covid.

Same! I thought about lying to get one the week before our trip, but ended up deciding I was too anxious to risk having someone call me on it at a pharmacy lol and then got Covid on the trip.
YLE is freaking me out about BA.5. It seems so contrary to how everyone around me is behaving. No one is masking or changing any plans. I have 2 get togethers with friends coming up (one who is from CA and been visiting lots of people) and now I'm kind of paranoid about covid again and second guessing seeing them. I seem to have extra covid anxiety, even though we all had covid back in Jan and are as vaxed/boosted as we can be.
Per her newsletter though, she's suggesting if you are <50, young, healthy and have had Covid, to skip this booster and wait for the new omicron formulation in the fall. That's what I plan to do.
Did anyone who had COVID recently have major body aches? I woke up with a slightly scratchy throat and body aches. Rapid was negative but I’ll continue to re-test. Most anecdotes have said it was more like a cold but I just feel super achy right now. I haven’t paid much attention to what BA4/BA5 symptoms are compared to previous variants.
Not sure if late April is "recently" but body aches were one of my only symptoms.
I was so incredibly sore. I felt like I needed to stretch constantly and it didn't help.

Symptoms then varied each day- sore throat, runny nose, coughing, stomach aches (could be from lack of eating), dull sense of taste.
This was my experience too.
Day 1: Ache-y Day 2: about an hour of vertigo Day 3: a little sneezy

Yes. I had it three weeks ago and was taking Tylenol religiously every 4 hours for the first few days because of the body aches/fever. Other than that, felt like a normal cold. Sore throat, cough, runny nose.
Give me all the vaccines!!! If another booster is approved now I'll get it and then get the new one in the fall.
Yes! I will take all the shots, as soon as they'll give them to me.
My mom just tested positive today. She got the first booster in the fall, but I am 99% sure she didn't get the second. I am amazed it took this long, honestly, because the woman has acted as though Covid didn't exist for months. (She was supposed to get her floors done in May and was going to stay with my brother but was completely confounded when I pointed out that she couldn't because the whole house had Covid.) She said she called her doctor to find out about getting the meds, so hopefully, she can get those soon and they give her some relief. I wish this meant I could stop worrying about her getting it, but the reinfection anecdotes and her general...herness means I'll probably go back to worrying again by the time she's able to drop the mask. Lord knows that I will probably be fighting with her about not going back to church to sing in the damn choir this weekend.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”

I tested positive on the 2nd and generally feel better, but I'm still coughing. It's super annoying. Anyone else have a lingering cough?
I had one for about three weeks, and I know several people who had a lingering cough as well. It's common, but also really sucks. I hope it goes away soon!

Yes. Body aches for the first 36 hours or so, but never any fever.

My spouse does. The cough was there for a week before the positive test and is still going.
Personally, my case was much milder than expected, I felt like I had strep throat for two days and was hoarse for a week. I did get some headaches, but I could not tell if they were my monthly anemia or COVID.

I'm here too. My booster was in October and I'm a teacher. I'll get one now and another one in the fall or winter.
Do you happen to know if the Omicron booster will be treated as a separate booster in the fall? Like, if I get a 4th shot now, will they let me get the Omicron booster in the fall or will that count as a 5th shot?

Here's what Your Local Epidemiologist said in her newsletter today:
"If you’re over 50 years old, get your booster.
If you don’t have your first booster, it’s beyond time. If you don’t have your second booster, get one now. Seriously. Schedule your appointment here. Do not delay. You will be able to get an Omicron booster this fall even if you get boosted now.
Those younger than 50 years will also soon be eligible for a second booster. If you have multiple comorbidities or work at a high exposure occupation, I think it makes sense to get a second booster now. If you’re young, healthy, and/or had a previous infection (hybrid immunity), it makes sense to wait for an Omicron booster in the fall. I, personally, will wait for my second booster. Keep in mind, protection against infection can be nil if it’s been a while since infection and/or last vaccination. You will especially need to have other layers of protection while waiting for that Omicron booster."
I had a second booster in May (don't qualify but I work in ER and we have horrible uptake). I got covid for the first time early June. It was verrrrry mild. Congestion, no cough, severe dizziness x 4 days. then nothing.
I will get an Omicron specific booster when available. Also, given our awful uptake here and complete lack of masks, I'm considering getting a booster every 9ish months. I wear my mask diligently.

I took the bolded line as being part of the over 50 recommendation.
I’m digging for a source, but the second booster is generally recommended at least 3 months after the first. So I’ve been mentally holding that in my head, and it played into my thinking on second booster now. Because the varient specific ones are expected in October, and July-Oct is 3 months.

I need to stop purchasing tickets to things.
My husband and I had tickets to see "Last Podcast on the Left" live on our wedding anniversary back in April. The show got rescheduled at the last minute to September because one of the guys came down with Covid.
Just today, I purchased a ticket to see tomorrow's virtual show for "The Dollop." I just purchased the ticket this morning. I just received an email that tomorrow's virtual show has been rescheduled to September "due to unforeseen circumstances." I am wondering if the "Unforeseen circumstances" is a Covid diagnosis.
Has anyone who had COVID seen changes in their periods?
I never saw changes after any of my vaccine doses but my period is wacky this month, and I’m always very regular and predictable. My face is also unusually oily, so I’m guessing there is a lot of hormonal shit going on that hopefully is temporary.
yep, this happened to me. I posted about it on ML. I am on the pill and super regular but after I had covid my period/bleeding pushed back exactly one week. I asked my gyno about about it and she said it wasn't related to covid, probably just my body....but it's happened to a lot of other people too so eh? It doesn't really matter in the long run but it's super annoying for me as my main purpose of being on bc is to regulate my period. It's been 2 months so far and I haven't re-adjusted back to the last week of my pill pack.

As soon as a second booster is approved for under 50, I plan to get it. I got my first booster on the first day of October last year (I was a teacher at the time). It's been awhile, and I'd feel much better with the second booster.

Ya'll are convincing me to I probably need my 2md booster. <50, last booster in November, and travel weekly for work.... I know so many people who have it or had it recently.

Yes. Body aches for the first 36 hours or so, but never any fever.
My experience—it took 4 days for me to pop positive. I had mild body aches on a Friday. On Saturday I had fatigue, aches and nasal drainage. By Sunday morning I was coughing so hard I was puking with a fever. I didn’t test positive till Monday. (Home test every day but not a PCR— should have gone for the PCR sooner).

I'm assuming when the Omicron boosters come out, the olds will get to go first again, as well they should, and by the time they are available to everyone, it will be closer to 4 months anyway. And honestly, not feeling the needing to get in on the first day would be nice too, IMO.
I'm going on a big trip overseas in August, and will be engaging in some activities around others where I can't really mask, so I'm really wanting that second booster before I go.

I'm so angry that no one is offering a second booster unless you are over 70 or at major risk. I got my first booster in December so I'm well outside the zone for protection, and now London's levels are rising a lot. Not happy with my gov't for so many reasons and here's one more.

In my experience, the elderly and the immunocompromised who are going ahead of everyone else in getting boosters and Evusheld are then taking trips to Florida and planning cruises. Including posters on this board.
