I'm assuming when the Omicron boosters come out, the olds will get to go first again, as well they should, and by the time they are available to everyone, it will be closer to 4 months anyway. And honestly, not feeling the needing to get in on the first day would be nice too, IMO.
I'm going on a big trip overseas in August, and will be engaging in some activities around others where I can't really mask, so I'm really wanting that second booster before I go.
In my experience, the elderly and the immunocompromised who are going ahead of everyone else in getting boosters and Evusheld are then taking trips to Florida and planning cruises. Including posters on this board.

Those things that help their immune systems behave like an immunocompetent immune system. To level the playing field so to say. And if everyone is at the same level of risk, then everyone is evaluating the same risks and making individual decisions. Think of the cartoon of the kids looking over the fence of equal vs equality. Clearly lots of people on this board are traveling.
and, since you seem to be talking about me (not sure anyone else has been as open about evusheld, which I did not ask for, FTR ). The trip to Florida was originally scheduled for Christmas, and canceled at the last minute because of omicron (like, 3 days before we left). And rescheduled for first of March. We got lucky in timing it at a valley. And it was the first time I’d left the state since 2018.

It’s been nearly THREE years. Come on now. People can and should travel. Just don’t be an asshole about it which no one on this board has been.

I'm just way too exhausted to judge anyone else's actions at this point. Navigating my household's risks is just too time-consuming to try to figure out if other people are making the right decisions, especially given that our government and society has given up caring.
Is there any point to retesting after a positive? I tested postitive 13 days ago and have family coming into town...I really don't feel like testing again is indicitive of contagion or anything else, but I am not really knowledgeable.

After day 10 it doesn't really matter, the chances of still being contagious at that point are tiny and smaller each day, especially if symptoms have improved. I was testing between days 5 and 10 to determine how much I still needed to isolate or mask around other household members who had not yet caught it.
My employer has been waiting for this as we still have the vaccine mandate for large private employers here. We have granted religious and medical accommodations and require weekly testing for those staff (in my region, that's only 3 people out of 150 that are not vaccinated). I do not know the specifics of those 3 staffs' accommodations but I was told that if any cited religious objections to vaccines developed from @@@aborted fetal cell lines@@@, they'd be required to get Novavax once authorized in the US since it's the first authorized vaccine that was not developed from those cell lines. So there will be some uptake for that reason with Novavax being available, though probably still minimal nationwide.
I’m hoping I can use Novavax as a booster. I get so sick (3 days a intense body aches) with Moderna. I haven’t tried Pfizer, but if I need a booster I am going to do Pfizer or Novavax. I have a feeling Pfizer will give me a reaction like Moderna though.
Yep, tested positive this morning on day #3 of symptoms. Still just have body aches mostly and a bit of a cough. Like, my eyeballs ache. Hoping it doesn’t get much worse.

Why shouldn't they? I've been encouraging my parents to travel and get back to normal life. None of us can take the future for granted, but those who are older or have life threatening medical issues especially don't have years to waste sitting at home. COVID isn't going anywhere, so people who are able to do things with low risk due to vaccine or medication absolutely should be allowed to without judgement.
We are going on 10 months since my last booster, which seems like way too long? I'm only 40 so I wonder when the next will be available. I just had COVID so hopefully will be ok for a bit, but with reinfections being common I would love for them to allow all of us vaccine lovers the opportunity to be better protected...

I asked my doctor if I should get a second booster before our vacation to Florida and he did not recommend it, which surprised me. He said wait until the fall when I get my flu shot (in fact he said they're working on a flu/covid combo). My mom and I had what was most likely Delta last August.
rubytue , you don't have to explain your choices to *anyone*. Ignore that shit.
On the one hand, I know that. On the other, *I* judge me. And I certainly have had my judgy moments over the past few years (I’m still very embarrassed about some shit I said during vaccine rollout) . But, yeah, it gets my hackles up when we have gone from “protect the vulnerable” to “just lock them away in their houses so we cAn LiVE ouR lYvES”. And I struggled with my own brain with how to think about that. I get both sides here. The ones that are all “we need to live our lives” and the side that feels that attitude translates to “they just want us out of society, and would be happy if we died out.”
we all need to give ourselves and each other grace. Except people Covid deniers antivaxers, and Qcumbers. They get no grace from me. 😂
also, to correct the record. My brain was in knee jerk mode. I did actually leave the state in 2019, and there was a cruise in November 2021 (and Jan 2020). Since someone apparently has a spreadsheet of everything I’ve done, perhaps I missed something else.

We'll make sure to get you an ankle bracelet so we know when you've broken your parole.

I’m really sorry. It is disgusting. People show their asses all the time here with this pandemic. Like someone literally was angry that nurses got to “hog” all the vaccines for those first few months. And ableism is dropped so casually yet so viciously that I wonder who else folks come for in their heads but know better than to fix their fingers to type it out.
We'll make sure to get you an ankle bracelet so we know when you've broken your parole.
It seems the parole board was not unanimous in its vote. So, I’m not sure it’s been granted. 🤣🤣
But, shit man, the thing is so transmissible. I could get it at the park. At Costco. Or while traveling. I think I’d rather play the odds traveling with my N95.
also, I’m throwing all caution to the wind and have fancy indoor dining reservations on my birthday. Will make the 2nd, maybe 3rd time I’ve eaten in public, indoor space. Maybe…. I reserve the right to chicken out. 😂

I had to get a Covid test to go on my vacation Monday. I tested positive. I am devastated. I haven’t had so much as a sniffle. Not a headache. Not a sneeze.

Omg I’m so sorry!! But also very grateful that you’re not feeling anything, even if it makes this even more frustrating since it’s such a shock. I hope you remain asymptomatic.

I'm so sorry Was it a rapid or a PCR? Any point in testing again to make sure it wasn't a fluke? How frustrating. This disease makes no damn sense

PCR and I am going to. It can’t hurt except I can’t get an appointment until tomorrow and I was supposed to leave Monday at 5:30 am. I won’t have results back before then.

how do you get one of those proctored self-tests?
I bought mine online from eMed, then never used it. And they charged me $21 for overnight shipping that didn't include weekends so I ordered in a Thurs night and got in on a Tuesday . Not sure if they have them at pharmacies. If you live near DC you're welcome to mine

That’s kind of you. I’m not in DC.
It was easy to find your own BYOB video proctor so I’m doing it tonight but have a rapid PCR appointment tomorrow. I’m so upset that I can’t stop shaking.

Oh shit I’m sorry. Have you had Covid recently by chance? Maybe it’s picking up an old infection? Gah I hope it was a fluke and you aren’t really positive.

I have never had Covid. About 3 weeks ago I had a sneezy couple days but I had no congestion, sore throat, etc. it is certainly possible it’s picking up an old infection from then, but I have never had any symptoms, ever, in 2.5 years. I was with one of our former board members yesterday and I would feel terrible if I infected her! I literally had a physical yesterday just a couple hours after the test and did not have any swollen glands. I also had blood work done prior to the appointment and my WBC was perfect! I know asymptomatic exists but wouldn’t I have elevated WBC count if I had an infection?!?! This is totally bananas.
I have a rapid saliva test tomorrow.
People’s kind words really do mean a lot, so thank you, friends.

We just did one with onpoint testing. It was $15. Done on zoom. They did ask me to stick it up my nose further, but didn’t critique H’s swabbing. And then, it read it after like 5 minutes, not 15 and declared we passed. Oh, and he didn’t even care that he couldn’t see the table where we set the stuff to put the drops in or anything. FTR, even after 15 minutes, it was still negative.
edit, I see you have a test scheduled. Sorry I was slow. But this is the website if you need to try again. onpoint-testing.com/product/certified-teleservice-covid-testing/ I was promised a pdf by email, but only got a link to enter my info and see results. But verifly took screenshots if that and was happy.
