I had Covid, all the symptoms went away...and then came back two weeks later, more than twice as bad. I was not on the Pavloxid, so it is not the rebound from that. I did test negative but am more symptomatic than before and since I work from home I am self-isolating for now.
My DH tested positive last night. He had a slightly sore throat at work on Tuesday that seemed to go away, then he felt run-down at work yesterday. He hasn't been sleeping well so assumed it was that. Then he woke up with a fever during the night and the line popped up within 20 seconds of testing.
He's working in a different state right now. We last saw him last weekend, but I seem okay so far. Question: he is supposed to fly home next Thursday, which would be day 10 exactly. He shouldn't come home, right? I'm somewhat confused on the rules.
From the CDC. Should be fine to travel day 10. Wear a mask after day 5.
Ending isolation if you had symptoms
End isolation after 5 full days if you are fever-free for 24 hours (without the use of fever-reducing medication) and your symptoms are improving.
Take precautions until day 10
Wear a well-fitting mask
Wear a well-fitting mask for 10 full days any time you are around others inside your home or in public. Do not go to places where you are unable to wear a mask.

Thank you! This is also what I found and think he might be okay to fly Thursday. Obviously if he’s still sick or has a fever that won’t be the case.
Ok, I'm pretty confident this isn't covid but does anyone have any idea what this might actually be?
I'm on day 3 of an intermittent sharp pain in my left ear. It's not connected to swallowing so I'm pretty sure it's not strep.
I have no other symptoms of illness. It's just at random intervals I get a sharp shooting pain in my ear.
Ear infection
I thought about that but the ear pain is literally the only thing going on so I sort of dismissed it. No drainage, no swelling, no redness, no fever, no "full" feeling.

Ugh, I’m sorry. This is what I’m afraid of. I hope you feel better soon.
“ President Biden has tested positive for COVID-19, the White House announced on Thursday.
He is fully vaccinated and twice boosted and, according to White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, "experiencing very mild symptoms." She said he has begun taking Paxlovid, a standard course of treatment for people who are considered to be at higher risk of adverse affects of COVID, including anyone over 50.
Biden "will isolate at the White House and will continue to carry out all of his duties fully during that time," Jean-Pierre said in a statement.”

A FB friend recently tested positive on their first business trip in over 2 years. They flew home wearing 2 KN95s on day 6. This is what the department of health in the city/state they were visiting told them was okay. Isolate in your hotel room and free to travel with mask starting on day 6.
They cleaned as much as their hotel room before checking out as possible to minimize risk to housekeeping. The hotel asked them to leave the windows open for ventilation when leaving and then the room wasn’t cleaned until it aired out for 24 hours.

This has been happening with me off and on for the last 2 months. I will also get a very slightly sore throat, and ear pain. Nothing else. I keep Covid testing but it’s not Covid.
I’m thinking it is part of my allergies this year. I take a Claritin every day but still get the dry throat and slight ear pain. Do you have allergies?

This is likely not it at all but sometimes I get ear pain due to reflux. Since it’s been 3 days straight it’s probably not that but it was a connection I learned about over the winter when I was constantly “Reflux or Omicron??” with my symptoms.

This is interesting; I’ve never heard this! It makes a lot of sense for me. I do suffer from heartburn. I wonder if this has been my issue and not allergies as I thought.
We just had it over the 4th and one of my family members has a HORRIBLE post viral rash. We are travelling and will be going to urgent care as soon as we get home. My mom got the rash too and needed steroids to clear it up. I assume we will need them too.

This is super interesting! I'll keep that tucked away for later.

I have a friend who has always had horrible allergies. Had sinus surgeries that didn't fully fix it, etc. She ended up having to go on a GERD diet because she was having issues with her vocal cords and found that it also greatly reduced a lot of her nasal symptoms.

That’s odd — the one thing I think is clear and consistent on the CDC guidelines is that you shouldn’t travel until post Day 10. It says it in red bold letters in both sets of recommendations.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”

Also two KN95s isn't recommended either. Wearing two won't improve the effectiveness.
My uncle’s residential facility just re-implemented full lock down. No visitors in the building and all activities and meals in their own room.
He lives in NYC
He had minor surgery in March 2020 and tested positive 2 weeks later (recovered without issue), right as the country went into lock-down. I get it but he has felt the full brunt of precautions since the beginning. I worry how this latest isolation will affect his mental health.
The pace of these waves is killing me. It was March before the winter wave dropped down to levels I was comfortable with in public, then we hit the May wave, which finally caught our household, and now we're in a July wave. It's like a bimonthly cycle. The last two years were much quieter through the summer and it feels so strange to wish for that time for any reason at all... but here I am.

Same. It feels like there is no end in sight which, paradoxically, is why I've just thrown my hands up at this point. I've done everything I could do for now. I don't expect my natural immunity from June to last forever, but WTF else am I supposed to do? WTF else is anyone else supposed to do?
These variant-specific vaccines can't come fast enough but we are always one step behind the latest variant and covid just keeps surprising us anyway. We have Paxlovid and I can only hope treatments get even better, so I feel like I just have to accept that lots of people are going to be sick at any given time but will mostly be okay with vaccination and treatments. But it sucks. The economic costs of more illness sucks. The @@educational@@ costs of more illness sucks. The healthcare costs of more illness sucks. The mental costs of more illness sucks. Even though everyone basically knows it's always possible, it is only now with covid that I feel like the other shoe can drop anytime I have an important event or much-needed vacation coming up. I can't commit to or book anything without buying insurance or otherwise doing everything I can to protect myself or my household from infection beforehand and even that won't always be enough. It's draining.

So… say you attended a wedding with 90 attendees, indoors in a large space and probably came into contact with about 20 of them in conversation. When should I start testing? Fml. I was a bridesmaid in this wedding so wearing a mask in the background at all times was not great. I honestly straight up avoided people. I did my best.

When was the wedding, yesterday? I’d test on the first day you have symptoms or 5 days after the wedding, whichever is soonest. It’s no guarantee you’ll get it and I hope you don’t!

TR and jeaniebueller No reports of positives yet. However my city has he highest Covid level in the wastewater ever, so chances are pretty good. They had 5 guests cancel last minute with positive tests. I’m starting my vacation this week and I’m very pessimistic that I’m going to have to cancel our trip for next week and be stuck quarantining for the whole two weeks. The timing is atrocious (for my quality of life).
