I just wanted to thank everyone on this board who has helped me plan over the past year and a half! I've asked a couple of questions, and I've searched old threads a bunch.
mrsukyankee -- I particularly wanted to thank you!! You suggested Cirencester as a homebase to explore the Cotswolds, and that's where we're staying! I can't wait!!
Just in case anyone is curious (since I know I searched old threads), I'll share our rough itinerary below. We're traveling with me and DH, our 2 girls ages 12 and 9, and my parents.
Day 1 - arrive London, private car to Cirencester Day 2 - Stonehenge and Avebury Day 3 - Warwick Castle Day 4 - Cotswold Lavender and exploring the Cotswold Way Day 5 - travel to London via train Day 6 - Hop On Hop Off bus; Westminster Abbey Day 7 - British Museum Day 8 - Tower of London Day 9 - Tea at Kensington Palace Day 10 - Travel to Paris Day 11 - Hop On Hop Off bus (Saint-Chappelle, Musee d'Orsay, Montmartre) Day 12 - Eiffel Tower, Louvre Day 13 - Versailles
Sounds grand. We just returned from London and Paris (and Provence). It was a blast. Wear a mask — three out of the four of us came back with Covid — but enjoy!
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”

Oh man. DH and I were just talking about the possibility of us catching Covid on our trip 😞 That would really make the last couple of weeks of summer miserable.

I hope your family all recovers quickly!
Fortunately everyone feels fine. We only tested bc it seemed like the right thing to do…but looking back, it was unavoidable — Covid is rampant in the UK and there are no precautions in place — we masked in crowded places but we were the only ones who did.
