Early morning explosion damages controversial Georgia monument
This article didn't state it but ultimately it was unstable so they knocked the rest of it down.
I had heard of the monument before- I know republicans didn't like it (it was Satanic!) and my husband said something about it being tied to eugenics (?). It doesn't bother me either way that it's gone, but I was surprised 1. at how little attention this story got, because it seems like the use of explosives should be a bigger deal? and 2. that there was so little security. One camera at one angle? (I understand it wasn't a government sponsored monument- the upkeep was a granite company- but still.)
