Did anyone have swelling under their arm after the shot? DD has a swollen lymph node (I’m assuming) and is really puffy. If you had this reaction, how long did it take for the swelling to go down? Was it painful?
Yes I did. I didn’t notice until I was washing my armpits in the shower. Of course I freaked out a little and had my husband google immediately to make sure it was a normal side effect. It was a little uncomfortable but not too bad and was gone in a few days. It was more unnerving than anything else.

Yes, this was my only side effect from my 2nd shot and my booster. I had it VERY painful under one of my arms both times and swollen. It lasted about 3 days for me both times.

Yes, it was incredibly painful for a few days after my 1st shot.

I did. Like you say, there are some lymph nodes there, and they definitely swelled up after my booster. It was weird. I wouldn't notice the swelling much unless I did certain movements, and then they _hurt_!
I hate to say it, but it took a couple weeks for it to no longer hurt during those movements.
Both of my kids are still testing positive after 8 and 7 days post first positive.
Ugh.
Not what you want to hear, but I tested positive for 13 straight days. By then I only had the last remnants of what was never a severe cough by any stretch, plus I was finally gaining back my taste and smell. I tested negative the day I felt no more symptoms. Which makes it all the more miraculous that no one in my household caught it from me, since during that two-week span I never fully isolated nor wore a mask in the house.

That makes sense, just annoying. My kids still don't feel great and I have a nasty cough with congestion. But I only just tested positive so I wouldn't be at my 5 days until Friday.
It's not like they can go anywhere on their own, it's just so annoying.

I did, after the 2nd shot. It was sitting on my collarbone for about 8 weeks. It wasn’t painful, but it was tender to the touch.

We had hoped that the boosters would be reformulated by now but we've played chicken long enough. The kids are getting boosters tomorrow since we go back to school on the 10th and I'm sure it'll be a shit show based on the notices we're getting about summer session.
DS (2) is scheduled for his first shot on the 10th! That gets him in two weeks before DD starts back at school. DH and I were on the fence about getting our 2nd booster before school or waiting for the reformulated shot, but the way eligibility works here we are likely better off to get the booster. We will do that one week before school starts.

That was a big part of the reason we waited as long as we did to get kid #1 boosted (he got his last Saturday)...school starts 8/17 and we wanted to be out of the two week window before any of the back to school events start.
Thanks for all the reassurance guys. Viv was feeling back to normal yesterday and although her armpit is still a little puffy, it’s not nearly as bad as it was. She says it only hurts if you push on it but otherwise doesn’t notice.
Like pp said, we held out on boosters since they had already had covid a few months ago and we’re hoping for omicron ones, but vacation and school starting kind of forced our hand. I hate that she might have the same reaction in the fall if she has to get another one. Womp womp.

Both of my kids got their second shot today! FX for no reactions.
My son's kindergarten teacher high-fived me when I told her we were getting them so he might not be in for the last day of camp. I'm assuming it won't be common in my area 😪
Updated boosters may be available in September. It mentions this could possibly include for kids, so I’m adding it to this thread, too.
I was planning to get my kids’ boosters at their physical in August before school starts so it would be nice to know if they’ll be eligible for the new formula in September.

I keep seeing this, but I feel so burned after the wait to get the under-5's vaccinated that I don't think I'll believe it until it goes in my arm.
8 more days until DS's 2nd Moderna dose. 22 more days until he's fully vaxxed. I know omicron can evade even recent vaccine immunity, but it's still a milestone I'm looking forward to.

Quoting myself here. I know this is probably unnecessary here, but in case anyone is lurking and needs a good anecdote. My kids had virtually no reaction to the 2nd dose. They felt warm to me overnight, but we only have those stupid forehead thermometers and they didn't come up with a fever. I gave each one Motrin to stave off the worst of it, but they were their regular selves and my son felt good enough to go to kindergarten camp.

Anybody or their kid have a sore throat as a side effect of the vaccine? We all got boosters yesterday, and DD woke up with a sore throat today. It's not listed as a side effect (I think the flu-like symptoms it normally causes are more systemic like fever or localized to/radiating from the injection site, like the sore arm). She tested negative for COVID and we don't know of any exposures, but I know that doesn't mean it isn't COVID. Although that would be the worst timing. I'm really sad because today was supposed to be her last full day this summer to play with her best friend (after barely seeing each other the last 3 weeks due to their and our family stuff).
(DH and I are just the normal sore and fatigued that you'd expect after a COVID shot.)
My husband just tested positive. So we're doing the slow roll through the family that's going to end with my kid being out of daycare this whole month.
