Minnesota has a constitutional right to abortion but our laws are kind of crappy... For example, there's a waiting period, a parental notification law, a requirement that they be performed by physicians.
Anyway, a state court judge just struck down a whole host of those restrictions, saying they are unconstitutional.
Could still be appealed but i don't think our AG will.

And plus anywhere that gets federal funds must prioritize saving the life of the mother or risk losing federal funding altogether (I’m paraphrasing) but this seems big and good and important to have said out loud. www.politico.com/amp/news/2022/07/11/biden-abortion-roevwade-00045166
A judge in Utah has continued a stay on our trigger law (which banned pretty much every abortion except for in cases of rape or incest where the victim had made a police report) after a hearing yesterday. Planned Parenthood is making a strong case that our state constitution, which contains an equal rights amendment, prohibits abortion restrictions.

Good. These assholes, not that they care, just don't seem to even acknowledge a young girl is ipso facto a rape victim with pregnancy as the proof. And also likely unable to file a police report, if she even knows it's an option, especially if against a family member. There's a reason why people can file years after they've turned 18, but if there's forced pregnancy, they might have a high schooler by then.
And I can totally foresee a future where any woman filing a report is accused of doing so just to protect right to abortion and therefore is automatically lying.
Thanks for reminding us there are pinpricks of light.

I can't say too much but our office along with the ACLU filed a federal lawsuit under the religious freedom that the Jewish religion allows abortions and that any restriction on abortion violates their right to religious freedom.
I think it is a very interesting and smart way to go. We will see.

I was going to say, several states have filed lawsuits basically stating that men and women are supposed to have equal freedoms under the federal laws and that these restrictions, which only target women, are a violation of that equality.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
aliciabella — that is so smart. I am going to follow this to see where it goes.
I wasn't personally named on the filing but am a part of our office's Roe committee. Our office is definitely worried especially since we act as guardians for thousands of kids in Philly
Anyone in PA knows the Wolfe will be leaving, the the Republican is as scary right as you could imagine. He will completely eliminate abortion and believes Christianity runs government. We need to fight!
Thank you to anyone that donated to the Red River Women's Clinic GFM. Almost 1 million has been raised.
Today was the last day of clinic, however around 4:15pm the TRO was granted which keeps the trigger law from going going into place. Small wins, maybe temporary, but some light.

Pat Toomey's office put out a statement today endorsing Oz to take his seat. They were asked about whether they had anything to say about Mastriano and were basically like, "no comment."
