Off duty CO kills man over waterbead gun

I am incandescent with rage. Each article blames TikTok and notes the water gun (spring-loaded air pump) is illegal. The NYPD made sure to post right after his murder that THOSE guns are illegal.  But AR15s are legal and you can have them everywhere because our Supreme Court is a menace.

Meanwhile, even though there is no evidence that he even shot the water gun, the CO’s union says, “Our officer fired a single shot in a situation where he felt his life was in immediate danger, particularly after feeling something hit his back. We are also aware that a NYPD Traffic Agent had also reported being hit with pellets in the same vicinity an hour beforehand.”  His LIFE was in danger. So endangered that he didn’t even report this and went to work and still didn’t report it.  He’s been arrested and charged.

This story is so fucking sad and infuriating.

The NYPD are horrible, and, even though I’m pro-union, something needs to be done about this incredibly corrupt yet very powerful one.

OMG, is this the same thing as a splat gun??

Because there have been numerous posts on our neighborhood FB page about teens shooting these at each other, or driving around in their parents golf carts (that's how our whole town gets around basically) and shooting at people. Which is OF COURSE annoying at worst and dangerous at best, but I am fairly confident NO ONE feels like any one of them should be killed for it!

What in the actual fuck!?

ETA: So yes, same kind of "toy". They don't even LOOK like real guns, so that angle cannot be used. 

This is fucking enraging. Especially the part you mention how a state cannot ban assault rifles but you can ban these. I repeat, what in the actual fuck?

My daughter was shot at by a classmate with one of these earlier this year (orbeez gun??) and she was terrified. She did not know what it was and ran to get away and tripped and got all cut up and bruises along her side they lasted for weeks.

Anyway she was afraid to report the kid who did it because he was black and she was afraid something bad would happen to him.

This dichotomy is so stark and demonstrates how completely ludicrous our gun laws are.  I know everyone here knows this, but this sentence just really stood out to me.  The sheer ridiculousness of it all.
