"Cancelling the 2022 festival gives Live Nation an additional year to weigh its options and potentially move the event to privately held land or to lobby the state legislature to update the law when it is back in session."
Or maybe just move it to a state that has sensible gun laws? Money talks.
I know there is a contingent that thinks that they need to be able to protect themselves anywhere they go. I can't personally fathom how anyone can feel safer knowing they are surrounded by other people carrying guns, though. Even IF somehow someone was the "hero" and shot at the bad gun with a gun, in a crowded place like that the chances of an innocent bystander being hit in the process are high. And as we all know, the hero scenario is mostly a myth.

This is an Atlanta-specific festival that gets held every year, so no. “Just move to a blue state” isn’t the answer. Hopefully staying in town but going to a different venue is possible for next year.
Considering how dumb people are at concerts (drunk/ high etc.) adding guns to the mix would be a huge problem.
Twice we've had issues with people who were too drunk to find their seats. Insisted our seats were their seats.
This last concert, the woman was high with a bunch of other people. They knew those weren't their seats sat there anyway, then argued with the Usher about it. Then sat in wrong seats again because they wanted to, then argued with the Usher again about those. Then finally went to their correct seats presumably, and then we see two of them sitting farther up (presumably again not their seats, but not sure on that one).
If they can't figure out seating (or don't want to). How are they going to figure out guns?

While we know...they do not know that it is a myth. They live in an echo chamber that says the only reason that people get shot is not enough people have guns.

I recently overheard someone saying that their (ex-military) husband is so committed to the notion that he needs his gun at all times for protection that he will literally wear it while mowing the lawn or to answering the door for the food delivery person.

A lot of folks in Atlanta would be happy to see it moved to another venue. But yeah this was a totally predictable consequence.

We have free concerts in my neighborhood on weekends. During the middle of one song someone from the band set off some random fireworks behind the stage. It was a bit alarming at first because it was unexpected.
Of course the FB page blew up about it. One of the girls working at the local pizza shop said they were scared it was gunshots. It was obvious from the crowd, but I could see if you weren’t facing the stage that it could have sounded like that.
And she had a legit concern, there was a story in our city a few weeks ago where a gas station clerk was being held at knifepoint and a customer came in and shot/killed the attacker. So, of COURSE, this ONE time it “worked”, everyone needs to be armed.
