Is there any chance that this was the kind of accident that’s accidentally on purpose? Like his lawyer was like “omg I hate you, you’re despicable, and I hope these parents get everything from you.” Because I can’t figure out how this happens by mistake.

I have seen intimations more that it could go towards some kind of an attempt at a mistrial.

But why? Jones and his lawyers were legally obligated to turn this material over and they didn’t until they accidentally forwarded everything to the families’ lawyers.
Jones perjured himself, not realizing they had the texts and emails, but these were things they were entitled to have.
ETA - Jones’s lawyer has repeatedly asked for a mistrial and the judge is not having any of this shit.

I haven’t followed this trial very closely but I’m also pretty sure not turning this over in discovery is a legal “mistake” that could have serious professional repercussions for the lawyer.

The families' attorney notified jones' attorney who had the opportunity to declare if any of the information was privileged. Jones's attorney did not respond. Apparently, they had to give him 10 days to respond and he didn't so it was admissible today.

Omg. That is astounding. I wonder if someone is going to come for them for that level of incompetence. Hopefully it doesn’t cause the whole thing to overturn on appeal (is that a thing? No idea, I’m not a lawyer but it seems bad.)
I just saw that the Jan 6 committee has subpoenaed this info!
LOLZ
Question: can incompetent council get a civil case dismissed? Is there a mistrial in civil cases?
For the first - no. Ineffective assistance of counsel is only a criminal thing and even then that would be the basis of appeal, not basis for a dismissal. In civil trials, the closest is probably malpractice, but that wouldn't be the basis for an appeal, that would be a separate lawsuit.
Second - mistrials are a thing in civil suits, similar to criminal.

I saw a tweet yesterday to the effect that R pundits and politicians have been quiet since finding out that Jones' phone info was turned over. LOL No defense of him or his actions, nothing.
His attorney did request a mistrial this morning and the judge denied the motion. It was apparently the 17th motion for mistrial the defense attorney has made and the judge basically said she can't take him seriously anymore.
I was reading all the Twitter stuff yesterday. The likely ties to J6 people and that he has those texts are astounding.
Also supposedly his current lawyer is the ELEVENTH lawyer he's had. They keep firing him as a client. I like this way of dealing with his shit better, lol.
