Just saw someone mention this on Twitter. I would love to see him in jail, but I am not optimistic that will ever happen. Barring him from running for office would be a good step to holding him accountable in some way.

Would it take a conviction though? Would he have to have a jury trial if he were charged? I don’t want to get to excited about this yet.

I believe it does take a conviction, but I don’t know for sure what a trial for something like this would look like.

I suspect we will find out. Just putting it out into the universe that I wouldn’t object to waking up to find he’s been arrested.

I have two friends who, just the week, have told me their siblings have finally seen reality and abandoned trump. One was in DC on 1/6 (no idea if the sibling went in, but was there and all for it). I know this is just 2 people, but I was seeing it as hope that he is losing people. 

OTOH, I just finished another WW2 historian fiction book that reinforced how tenuous of a situation we are in, and how we are so close.

I don’t know I would recommend it. I’m still sitting on it. But, it was “good” people who ended up wrapped up in the machine, “just following orders” and all that. I guess that was the point though, to show how it drip, drip, drips and next thing you know, you are an SS officer? And you close the book thinking everyone is terrible. It was the drip drip parts that rang true to me now. I really loved a few of her other books: The things we cannot say and The Warsaw Orphan.

Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled they're looking, and I hope this is it. I was absolutely giddy last night, but I've come down from the high and imagine this will fuel the extremists, who'll support DeSantis if they're finally fed up with Trump. That was already in motion anyway, wasn't it?

The memes and one-liners are giving me life, though. Please tell me there's a chance he'll actually, finally be held accountable for something. Regardless of the party at large, I would definitely count that as a real victory.
