lest we forget in the raid revelry how precarious our lives remain. 😒
The Affordable Care Act has survived many challenges in court, but the case of Kelley v. Becerra – now before a federal judge in Texas – threatens to undermine one of the most popular provisions in the law, which requires most health plans to provide coverage for preventive care with no copays.
If the judge rules in favor of the plaintiffs, access to free birth control, cancer screenings, vaccines, PrEP (HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis), counseling for alcohol misuse, diet counseling for people at higher risk of chronic disease, and many more preventive services would be in jeopardy, according to the nation's leading doctors' groups, which have sounded the alarm.
Thank you for posting this. I have lots of thoughts but it’s 3am and right now I’m ready to tell this orthodontist that he can’t just pick and choose what preventative care he gets, so he gets none.

Right? I’m not ever going to have erectile dysfunction or prostate cancer but I understand how insurance coverage works to know why it’s covered.
I also consider myself of the Christian faith and the choice between “my wife’s too old to need birth control” and “150 million people could lose access to preventative care” seems clear to me. I don’t know why these people have to be assholes about this.

I thought you mistyped and meant to write orthopedist or something.
Clearly he has way too much time on his hands and believes the poors don't need medicine. I don't think he will care if he does't get free preventative care since he can afford it and he looks closer to Medicare age than me.
On the flip side, I have heard complaining for years from small business owner dentists that the ACA made their choices for health plans worse and made their premiums skyrocket. For example, they used to pay maybe $800/mo for their family's health insurance premiums with a $3K deductible for a PPO and now they pay $2500/mo with a $15K deductible for an HMO. They didn't get to "keep the same doctors" like Obama said over and over. This guy probably falls into that group but his reasons are still gross.
(I don't remember the exact numbers but the math was rough when they'd type it out. I recall thinking that I'm lucky to have access to a large-employer sponsored health plan through a spouse that chooses to work for a giant corporation so we pay a very affordable monthly premium with great choices.)
I remember my two iuids being free instead of $700 each. #thanksobama (not sarcastic, and I'm in TX).
By this dude's same logic, I, as a childfree-by-choice person without a uterus, would like to stop paying the taxes that go to my local schools. And I'm happy to invoke my religious beliefs too so I can stop paying these taxes.
WTF is wrong with these people. I'll answer myself. Nothing. They are pawns from a minority trying to not lose power.
I am drunk. I apologize in advance if I say something stupid.

You have a uterus?!!! You have no say in the matter!
I know you said you don't have a uterus, but that's what these fuckers will say simply because I'm guessing you present as female.
