Two-thirds of all UK households will be trapped in fuel poverty by January with planned government support leaving even middle-income households struggling to pay their bills, according to research.
It shows 18 million families, the equivalent of 45 million people, will be left trying to make ends meet after further predicted rises in the energy price cap in October and January.
An estimated 86.4% of pensioner couples are expected to fall into fuel poverty, traditionally defined as when energy costs exceed 10% of a household’s net income, and 90.4% of lone parents with two or more children.
Sewage alerts issued for almost 50 beaches in England and Wales (due to privatization of water companies by the Tory gov't - the companies were meant to pump money into the system to fix things, instead they paid their bosses big salaries and gave their shareholders tons of cash)
There's a discussion among NHS healthcare workers on Twitter about how they plan to get to work on Friday with the transit strikes. Some of them are going to get hotel rooms on Thursday night, or else sleep in the hotel overnight.
From what I read on Twitter, the NHS workers are disgruntled and post constantly about labor shortages among the healthcare workers, wait times for services, etc.

hellomarriedlife, yes. They are being shafted in every single way and with Brexit, we lost a large number of our workforce too. It's purposeful by the Conservatives who want to bring in the same system as the US so that they and their friends can make money. I hate the Tories. HATE.
And now the newspapers are giving recommendations on how to eat food that is mouldy...ffs! link
This doesn't really bother me. Food waste is a real problem, and a lot of people unnecessarily toss stuff. Just think of all the "would you eat it" threads we have.

How it bothers me is that there are people starving in the country - more than any other time since WWII. To post something about how to eat mouldy food at this time is horrific. That's why it's so bad.
