I'm still chipping away at 7 Husband's of Evelyn Hugo (would love to finally finish this weekend) and I'm about 60 pages in to Where the Crawdad's Sing. I really hope it picks up.
QOTW: I love Little Women. I'd love to read the adult version of Great Expectations, but I've only done Dicken's as an abridged children's version.
I finished a reread of Chuck Wendig’s Wanderers and am looking forward to the sequel coming out this fall. Now reading a mystery, Bad Little Falls by Paul Doiron. It has been an exhausting week and I don’t have brain space for anything heavy.
QOTW: I have enjoyed Jane Austen books — Sense and Sensibility and Pride and Prejudice were both fun to read. I liked Rebecca also. I don’t pick classics very often; I should try more of them.
I finished Acts of Violet by Margarita Montimore. I enjoyed this a lot and found the format to be fun and unique. I struggled with whether to rate it 4 or 5 stars before finally deciding on 4 because I liked but didn't love the ending. I haven't ready Oona Out of Order yet but placed a hold right after finishing.
QOTW: I don't read classics often. I do remember reading and liking a few Thomas Hardy books in high school. They weren't assigned, I picked them up after Kate Winslet was in an movie adaptation of Jude the Obscure.
I finished Burying Water by K.A. Tucker (3.5*) and The Secret Life of Albert Entwistle by a Matt Cain (3*). I'm starting All Good People Here by Ashley Flowers tonight.
Qotw: I have liked everything I've read by Dickens and Steinbeck.
I’m listening to Diamond Eye and visually reading Lilac Girls. I’ve ended up back in the WWII historical fiction cycle after taking a break. I enjoy them, but it can be a lot sometimes. I need to diversify my goodreads list (although I have 300+ books on there!), as those seem to be the top rated books on my list.
QOTW: I have not had a great success rate of reading classics for fun. Jane Eyre?, but that was decades ago! I recently gave up on listening to theCount of Monte Christo

Finished The Paid Bridesmaid and The Hacienda. Started The Spanish Love Deception and Black Cake.
QOTW: What classic books have you enjoyed that you read for fun (rather than as a student)? Turn of the Screw is one of my all time favorite books, and Austen's Northanger Abbey is my favorite of hers.

I’m reading this now and it’s cute! I didn’t realize at first it was the the author of Oona. I sort of feel like I started that as an ARC and didn’t finish it so maybe I should try again.

Recently finished Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe. I gave it 3.5 stars. I liked most of it, but there were some things I didn't like. I felt no emotion really from Ari (which I know is a tiny bit the point, he's a introverted teenage boy, but still). I also would have gone a different direction with a few things. It was good, but I admit I was a bit disappointed.
Currently reading Under the Whispering Door. Not too far in yet!
