Lawn care can be a bit of an issue for us, as we don't always have the same standards. I get really agitated if the grass gets high but dh is more in the "if I mow once a week, we're good" camp. I do mow too but definitely don't enjoy it. I'd also like to free up more time to concentrate on the gardening.
I'm not really interested in hiring our lawn care because we have 2 dogs and so many times when we've had lawn care come in they leave the gates open. I don't want to deal with that stressor.
I think we have about 1/3 of an acre. The back is fenced and has a bit of a hill, not terribly steep. Logistically, I'm not sure how it would work to take it in and out of the fence. Really I guess if we just left it within the fence and mowed the front ourselves it would be a huge timesaver.
A person down the street has one. I don’t know how old it is or what brand. It’s super quiet but it mows with no discernible pattern so their grass looks like a drunk person mowed it. They use it all the time though so it seems like they like it.

Are you my neighbor? Lol. We have one but our lawn definitely doesn’t look strange! We run it constantly though so the grass never gets long so you don’t really see a pattern at all. We’ve had it for three years and my husband no longer has to mow the lawn, ever. It is amazing and we love it. My husband recently added these spiky wheel accessories, and it never gets stuck and is totally fine with the hills. We have a lot of trees and hills, and it used to get stuck on occasion. Just keep in mind that you have to install the wire for the fence - it is essentially the same as electric dog fence wire.
I looked into this last year and decided it wasn't the right fit for me right now. The biggest problem is my yard had a slope that was too steep for most robotic mowers. I had the yard leveled this year, but since I bought a new mower last year (old one died), it's not something I'm considering currently. The next time I need a mower though, this is the direction I want to go.

My next door neighbor has one, and same. It’s not so much the random patterns as it is that it just doesn’t do a great job. The lawn in uneven, it misses things. But it’s amusing to watch it putter around. I don’t know the brand, but it’s bright yellow. I suspect it’s a early model, too, as he seems to be a techie/early adopter. We’ve only been here a year, and it’s older than that.
