Sept 8 (Reuters) - “Michigan's top court ruled on Thursday that voters should get to decide whether to amend their state constitution to protect abortion rights, a win for advocates who petitioned to put the measure on the November ballot.
Reproductive Freedom for All, an abortion-rights advocacy group, amassed more than 730,000 signatures in support of putting a state constitutional amendment affirming the right to abortion on the general election ballot.“

Oh thank god. I was starting to get worried about tomorrow being the deadline to be added to the ballot. I can’t believe the utter fucking nonsense the GOP pulled over not approving this and the right to vote initiative. I mean, I can believe it, but JFC these people are such complete hypocritical assholes. I can’t wait to vote for both proposals the minute I get my absentee ballot in the mail!

For all the voting Michiganders - Justices Bernstein and Zahra are up for re-election. Bernstein voted in favor of putting the initiative on the ballot, Zahra dissented. Something to keep in mind when filling out your ballot.
"Justice Zahra notes that, as a wordsmith and a member of this court, he finds it 'an unremarkable proposition that spaces between words matter.' As a blind person who is also a wordsmith and a member of this court, I find it unremarkable to note that the lack of visual spacing has never mattered much to me," Bernstein wrote."

Can I tell my funny Bernstein story here? He was on the WSU Board of Governors and I worked there. We were at an event and I was behind him at the buffet. Bernstein's assistant stepped away and he turned around and asked me to tell him what each item on the buffet was. We got to one and I said, "Ok, well, I actually don't know what this is." He responded, "I love when that happens, let me smell it." And that's how I found myself holding up a ladle of unidentifiable liquidy something under his nose. He then complimented me for not spilling it on his tie. Neither of us ever figured out what it was.

has anybody found a copy of what the text with the weird spacing actually looked like? I'm really curious.
