For our home office, we have kind of a funky room, but it's a good size for an office. It has two doors, a window, and a chimney that creates a slight cubby. We want a desk with some shelves and a settee or chaise. Trying to decide where to put the desk is throwing us off. Do we put it in the little cubby between the chimney and the window? Or on the main big wall. The layout is attached. Any thoughts?
Edit - The wall that looks like windows is just a drywall wall now and where it looks like a door, it's a window. Sorry for the confusion!
Depending on the electronics needed with the desk, I’d have the desk float in the center-ish and (when sitting) look at the fireplace. So the window would be to the right of the desk. A chair could go in the cubby between the fireplace and other wall.
That said, I wanted to have that set up but I have multiple monitors and other electronics so that wasn’t possible. I ended up with a long double desk that lines the back wall in your drawing (the one that looks like it has windows but doesn’t). I don’t like that my back is to the door but I can mount the monitors so I sucked it up.
ETA I think I misunderstood your drawing. Is the door where the hole is? Or where the cloud part is?
If you want to float the desk, the I would go perpendicular to the windows in the top left. But, personally, I’d put the desk against the windows. My office is somewhat the same as yours (two doors, large window), but my fireplace is along the wall at the top of your figure. And my desk is against the window so I can get distracted by the birds. 😂
Yeah, sorry, the drawing is confusing because it was pre-renovation - I don't have a better one. The cloud area at the bottom is just a big window. There is one door just above the fireplace and one door at the upper left corner. Where there were windows on the left side, it's just a wall.

Do people use the office as a pass through? Since you have the two doors at the top I was wondering if it’s a commonly used access route to another space.
If not, I would put my desk in an L shape from the bottom left corner along the window wall and across in front of the fireplace. I would add built in cabinets beside the fireplace in the corner for storage, and then I would have a set of small chairs at the top of the page that could be moved around. I don’t think you can fit in a settee or chaise unless if you go with a really small desk against the window wall (DH does this), and then you can fit larger furniture on the left wall.
