He had them flown there? How does this even work? Like he arranged to charter a plane and pay for it to fly to Martha's Vineyard, a tiny island with a small airport? You can't even drive there from the mainland without shipping your car on a boat. Who pays for this?
So many questions. I keep seeing reports about "illegals being bussed" to a location very close to my town so it's been on my radar but I haven't been able to follow it closely.
Human beings, DeSantis! The people you DUMPED in another state are human beings. They are not stray animals. They are not cast off goods. They are HUMANS! I am so angry about this that I'm shaking. I want to hit this man in the balls. Repeatedly.

It seems to be 2 chartered flights and most likely the Florida tax payers.
I fucking hate DeSantis. This was a publicity stunt. MV is a tiny island without the resources to manage this, especially with no warning. I saw this on the local news last night and was livid. (Note they did take care of them because of course they found a way, but this was unconscionable).
The migrants said they were basically tempted onto the plane with promises they were going to Boston for better opportunities. Disgusting.
There were 50 of them and Martha’s Vineyard people say it was only one plane not two and it came from San Antonio but also stopped in Florida and SC.
“The migrants said a woman they identified as "Perla" approached them outside the shelter and lured them into boarding the plane, saying they would be flown to Boston where they could get expedited work papers. She provided them with food. The migrants said Perla was still trying to recruit more passengers just hours before their flight.“

Him and Abbott are just awful humans.
It is definitely Florida taxpayers. The OP article mentions the Florida legislature has allocated $12 million to traffic human beings. Er, fly them to "sanctuary cities/states."
The odd thing is, some of these people in Martha's Vineyard reported arriving from Texas, as mentioned above. So, if true, Florida taxpayers are paying for human trafficking happening from other states too. Yay fiscal conservatism!

Also, there's nothing stopping any of these people from, like, going back to Florida or Texas or wherever if they want to. They probably won't, but still. So this is nothing more than an election season political stunt by assholes using vulnerable people as pawns. I guess they couldn't find a caravan to feature on the news.
I saw this last night, and I can’t explain how infuriating it is for me. And then I think of who his supporters are down here, and I can’t help but be disgusted by them. Shameful. I hope this bites them in the ass, I doubt it though.

This is absolutely disgusting. Also, I feel like support for these people would have cost less than the money they spent shipping them off? I know, his supporters won't give a single shit about that because they're more concerned with getting the migrants out of there, but still.

I hope that Elin Hilderbrand mentions this in her next novel. Her stuff takes place on Nantucket, but she mentions some current events and she mentions Martha's Vineyard.

This is what I have been coming back to as I've been hearing about these buses (and now planes!?) taking people from Florida and Texas to various places. What a phenomenally stupid use of that money.
The same fools that are celebrating this would be completely appalled at the same amount of money being allocated to doing something good for these people. It's so gross.

Not to mention most of these people would have become contributing members of the community in a relatively short time. Our economy (especially the economies of these border states) depend on immigrants yes including "illegals." They pay taxes and do jobs we need done. So a small investment in helping up front actually provides financial benefit.
That doesn't own the libs though.
Not to mention the general moral repugnancy of this and the hypocrisy of these fake Christians and etc etc.
"Lord when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger and not minister to you?" "That time you conned me onto a plane to Martha's Vineyard."
I just listened to Up First (NPR daily news podcast) and apparently they actually came from Texas? At least the migrants they interviewed. They said they recently arrived in Texas and were clearly mislead into getting in the plane (told they were going other locations, told where they were going could expedite their legal process etc). Also MV authorities say it wass one plane but desantis says 2. He’s such an asshole.
As to why MV, Texas and Florida have been busing migrants to other safe harbor areas but I guess it’s not making as much of a splash as a small, very wealthy, currently in the off season so more strained for resources, Island.

Right? Even if you don't care about, you know, caring about other people, economically we NEED immigrants. Now moreso than ever. If they love capitalism so much they should understand that, but capitalism is only a way for they themselves to gain power so who cares.
State rep from Cape Cod claps back: "This is an island that is in the business of welcoming people," Cyr said. "But it’s pretty disgusting that a state or a governor or whoever this is would capitalize on the unfortunate, dire circumstances of these families who are just looking for a better life. To capitalize that for a political stunt or for a 'gotcha' moment. That’s just disgusting.”
"Gov. Ron DeSantis could learn a lesson from Massachusetts on what patriotism and liberty really look like if he weren’t so busy using humans as props in a cruel stunt to buoy his pathetic political aspirations," Massachusetts U.S. Sen. Ed Markey wrote in a post on social media. "To those who’ve just landed: we gladly embrace you."
The response of the Martha's Vineyard community is really beautiful. We truly are seeing the worst and the best of humanity.
