I just read this heartbreaking story (link) about a rise in childhood hunger in England (anecdotes include a child pretending to eat out of an empty lunchbox because he didn't qualify for school lunch but didn't want his friends to know he had no food and kids being so hungry they were eating erasers).
I feel sick to my stomach that this is happening and want to do *something.* I know a lot of US-based charities that work on feeding kids (Blessings in a Backpack, No Kid Hungry, and then general food pantries). Anyone have a recommendation for a trustworthy charity in the UK that may do work in this space to which I can make a donation? A couple are mentioned in the story, so I'll donate to one of those unless someone has a suggestion.
Or something like DonorsChoose where I could donate money directly to teachers (the US DonorsChoose site has lots of teachers who have posted projects so they can buy food for their kids).
