Like so many other people, our #1 priority at HS is getting on Rise of Resistance. It's our first trip and we're new to the whole Genie+/ILL world. Sorry if these questions are dumb, but I only have a basic YouTube video understanding of how these things work.
How early can/should we start trying to book ILLs for Rise?
Also, we have some reservations at HS the day we're there (droid/sabre at the same time first thing in the morning, lunch at the 50s diner, and late afternoon drinks at Oga's) - will the ILL system take those reservations into account when giving us a return time? I don't want it to, because I'd rather get on the ride than keep my diner reservation, kwim? I can always eat quick service and be fine with that.
And if the Rise return time comes back at a time during one of our reservations, will the restaurant charge us to reschedule or cancel for that reason, because it will inevitably be within the 24 hour cancellation window?
You can’t make genie plus or lightning lane choices until 7 AM that day (that was for staying on property - it may be a later time if you are off property). We had a lightning lane choice pop up and interfere with a restaurant reservation and the hotel concierge took care of it for us. I think it’s likely fairly common and I don’t think you will be penalized.

Be quick on the jump at 7, and do a little googling to find other drop times where more choices become available. For a while I think 7:11 was a time?
Also, the last time I was there, we waited for the end of the day to join Rise. It was risky, as it breaks down a lot, but LL had just rolled out and we didn’t use it because we didn’t know how. It was awesome. I think we waited 30 minutes?

I don't believe Genie+ or ILL take into account dining/experience reservations. I don't think it's that looped in. As far as if the time does overlap, try and find a cast member/customer service/conceirge as soon as possible. I am fairly certain they will waive cancellation fees if they absolutely can't push back your reservations. You also have a little bit of a window to fulfil your ILL if you happen to be overlapping the end of your lunch for example.

You can try to get them at 7:00am if you are staying on property, or when the park opens (and I think you have to be in the park) if you are not. My last couple of trips we just waited in line and it wasn't that big of a deal. Don't go there first thing, go later in the afternoon or evening and the line won't be that bad. I think I've ridden it three times without ILL and never waited more than an hour.
Don't worry about reservation conflicts, Disney is very accommodating and will move things around to allow you to give them as much money as possible. :-). Reservations always have a 5 minute early/15 minute late grace period.
Thanks everyone! We have friends who got on RoR a few times in the same day last time they were there by doing the single rider lane - they are a couple with one 9 year old child, and they just put the kid between them and always all wound up together on the ride anyway, so maybe that's another strategy. Sounds like we should be good one way or another, and I will be all over the app at 7 am.

ROR does not have a single-rider line in DW, unless it’s very new. Smuggler’s Run does have a single-rider line, and that is absolutely the way to go. It’s basically walk-on.

This is the way it is at Disneyland too - single rider walk on for smugglers, LL or standby only for RotR

My bad; they must have been talking about other rides that they used that strategy for. Anyway, thanks for all of your advice!
