Under the Whispering Door by TJ Klune 5* I loved this one. I thought it was super sweet, thought provoking, and such a different story.
Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez 4* I liked it, but didn't love it. It was cute, but some things seemed to work out too easily, or just seemed really unrealistic.
The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley 2* I was bored through most of it. I didn't really like the writing. It was annoyingly obvious when a part of the story was intentionally left out. Then I was completely underwhelmed at the "reveal". There was a random sex scene thrown in there that I didn't really understand the purpose of. I don't know. I just didn't like it 😆
September was good for reading! Oddly I only got through 4 books on vacation last week and I don’t feel like we did much.
The Final Gambit by Jennifer Lynn Barnes (this did not need to be 3 books)
The Lost Ticket by Freya Sampson (ok)
American Hand-woven Coverlets in the Newark Museum by Margaret E. White/Newark Museum Publication (interesting)
Book of Hand-woven Coverlets by Eliza Calvert Hall (interesting, written in the 1920s and had first hand interviews with women. She is also funny)
Nothing More to Tell by Karen M. McManus (pretty good)
How to Kill Your Best Friend by Lexie Elliott (ok)
Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin (didn’t enjoy as much as expected)
Run Towards the Danger: Confrontations with a Body of Memory by Sarah Polley (she has been through it)
Everything Is Ok by Debbie Tung (is it though?)
Dirt Creek by Hayley Scrivenor (good old fashioned mystery)
Paper Girls: Deluxe Edition Book Three by Brian K. Vaughan, Cliff Chiang, Matt Wilson, Jared K. Fletcher, and Dee Cunniffe (finally done! Show is much better)
When We Were Bright and Beautiful by Jillian Medoff (I barely remember this)
Everything I Know About Love: A Memoir by Dolly Alderton (ok, like her fiction better)
Dele Weds Destiny by Tomi Obaro (good)
The Lonely Stories: 22 Celebrated Writers on the Joys & Struggles of Being Alone Edited by Natalie Eve Garrett (eh)
The Housekeeper by Joy Fielding (cheesy)
Ayoade on Ayoade: A Cinematic Odyssey by Richard Ayoade (stick to anything but essay writing)
How Not to Drown in a Glass of Water by Angie Cruz (good)
The Year of the Horses: A Memoir by Courtney Maum (telling on herself)
The Weight of Blood by Tiffany D. Jackson (fun Carrie reimagining)
The Love of My Life by Rosie Walsh (a little hazy on this)
The House Party by Rita Cameron (bad)
Mother Daughter Me by Katie Hafner (good)
To Boldly Grow: Finding Joy, Adventure, and Dinner in Your Own Backyard by Tamar Haspel (could have just been a long form article)
All That's Left Unsaid by Tracey Lien (ok, little flat?)
Cooking for Mr. Latte: A Food Lover's Courtship, with Recipes by Amanda Hesser (reread)
The Age of Homespun: Objects and Stories in the Creation of an American Myth by Laurel Thatcher Ulrich (SO LONG! I know too much now)
Annie on my Mind by Nancy Garden (good, fun to see early 80s NYC)
In the Early Times: A Life Reframed by Tad Friend (cheating on Amanda Hesser!!)
Drunk on Love by Jasmine Guillory (eh)
The Night They Vanished by Vanessa Savage (surprisingly fun)
