I've been in such a reading slump. I'm making ok progress on "The Long Weekend" and I started "Project Hail Mary", although that one's a lot slower. Long Weekend is picking up, but it's a bit hard to follow with 800 characters.
Q(s)OTW: This year DH and I are doing DIY Bill and Ted Costumes. As a kid I loved a genie costume in 6th grade, but had to wear a lot of warm clothes underneath.
I finished Poster Girl by Veronica Roth, which was just meh for me, and am currently reading Unleashed by Cai Emmons. I don’t really like any of the characters and I wouldn’t say I’m enjoying the book, but it’s still strangely engrossing.
QOTW: I’m not dressing up (I will wear my pumpkin t shirt and maybe put on cat ears if I can find the headband), but my favorite childhood costume was my kindergarten butterfly. Totally simple with cardboard wings, but I loved it.
This Story Will Change: After the Happily Ever After by Elizabeth Crane (could have used a little more introspection? I don’t think her husband’s main issue was really that she doesn’t like to cook)
All of This: A Memoir of Death and Desire by Rebecca Woolf (I think I had her confused with someone else when I requested this? Messy and I’m still not sure who she is)
A Gamut of Girls: Memoir by Elsa Lanchester (fun)
When I Am Through with You by Stephanie Kuehn (one of the worst books I’ve read this year. Not sure why I requested it)
Weaving Rag Rugs: A Women's Craft in Western Maryland by Geraldine Niva Johnson (interesting!)
Your Guide to Not Getting Murdered in a Quaint English Village by Maureen Johnson with Jay Cooper (Illustrator) (cute!)
Shady Hallow by Juneau Black (cute! Easy!)
The Storyteller's Death by Ann Dávila Cardinal (interesting! Loved the setting)
Crying in the Bathroom by Erika L. Sánchez (not as good as I hoped)
Well of Souls: Uncovering the Banjo's Hidden History by Kristina R. Gaddy (I now know too much about banjos)
QOTW: my brother and I went as a pair of dice once! It was cute, we made the costumes out of cardboard boxes.
I finished An Affair of Spies by Ronald Balson, 1*. The characters are so awful that it ruins the story. I also finished Poster Girl by Veronica Roth, 2*. I liked the idea of this book, but I wanted more depth to the story and characters. I'm currently reading When We Had Wings by Ariel Lawhon.
Qotw: I always go out in my Harry Potter robe. It's warm, comfortable, and kid party appropriate (I only go to Halloween parties with my kids).

Too lazy to look up my last post to see if I finished The Friend Zone by Abby Jimenez before then or not, so sorry if I post about it twice! That was my most recent book finished. It was ok. I liked most of it, but wasn't a fan of the ending. Josh seemed a little controlling/manipulative in some spots. I'm hesitant on reading the next book just because of who the character is and what just happened in this book!
Currently reading Take My Hand. It's about a nurse in Alabama who works at a women's clinic in the 70s. There is a lot about racism, birth control, and abortion. A couple of the quotes were like a punch in the gut given recent events :\ But it talks about some things I didn't know much about and it's really interesting.
QOTW: I'm not usually that creative with costumes, I wish I was! My mom made me some fun costumes when I was little. One fun one was a cheerleader for our local high school. She got a blue sweatshirt and skirt and decorated it with the school colors. My go to costume lately has just been a cat bodysuit I got at Target years ago. I want to do something else!

Finished Not Your Average Hot Guy and started the sequel (Date from Hell).
Read My Evil Mother.
Currently reading Leech about an Institute of Medicine where each doctor is infected by a parasite giving them collective consciousness. One doctor is investigating the death of another doctor whose collective consciousness was lost before he died.
QOTW: If you dress up for Halloween, what is your costume this year, and/or what was your favorite costume as a kid? both my kids want to be the Headless Horseman, so I'm going as Katrina from the Sleepy Hollow story.
I have been reading The Hacienda by Isabel Cañas. It was a bit slow initially but it's getting quite creepy!
QOTW: I really wish I had an excuse to wear a costume! One I remember particularly liking as a kid was the statue of liberty. My mother made a pretty cool torch from a flashlight and tinfoil.
Jumping in here late - I just finished Upgrade by Blake Crouch (5 stars, loved it) and Educated by Tara Westover on audio (2 stars, it was less than I was expecting). Now I'm on to If It Bleeds by Stephen King (because DH read it and the Netflix movie version of Mr Harrigan's Phone looks great), and As You Wish on audio (I'm only 45 minutes in and it's already so fun).
I'm probably just going to wear my witch hat out trick or treating with the kids tonight, and one of my favorite costumes was the year DD was 4 and a mermaid and DS was 1 and a lobster and I was a jellyfish and DH was a fisherman. I busted out my jellyfish umbrella for a party over the weekend, but I don't feel like carrying it around tonight.
