It was a nice weekend, except for DD puking her guts out Saturday night. And I woke up this morning at 2:00, freaked out about a presentation tomorrow I have with a client. Between all the stuff with DS, DD being sick, and other projects going at full tilt, I haven’t had time or mental energy to focus on it the way I would like. So I worked on it for 2 1/2 hours overnight. It’s it decent shape. It could be better, but whatever. I’m doing the best I can, so I hope it’s enough.
Great weekend. Our party went great. At one point there were kids rolling down the hill, on the porch and I saw a couple of boys had found our chicken wings. I'm glad they liked them.
Dd came down with a cold Saturday, so Sunday was spent in Pjs watching Tv and cooking.
We are doing a trunk or treat tonight. Hopefully a chill week. All of my big reports were due in October, so now on to other projects.
I was in a weird funk all weekend. No kids and beau was working crazy hours all weekend long so I was just home alone the whole time. I just couldn't get myself motivated to accomplish much of anything, so I watched a lot of TV and wasted way too much time messing around on my phone. I'm feeling annoyed with myself now that Monday has rolled around and I feel like I wasted my free weekend. I did get some homework and a bunch of laundry done. But mainly I was a slug.
Tonight I'll meet up with the kids and exH and some neighborhood friends for trick or treating. Beau is going to join us too. His son isn't coming with us though. He's choosing to trick or treat with his mom in her neighborhood, which is fine. It was his choice. But on Saturday he was all set to come with us and the girls and other friends got excited. Then he basically got a better offer to go trick or treating with a friend who has a golf cart so he won't have to walk house to house. So he's doing that instead. I'm trying not to let it irritate me beyond a quick vent here.
And tomorrow is a BIG DAY. My best friend has her first IVF transfer! They've been trying to get pregnant for over ten years now and this is basically their last chance. I'm really, really hoping it works out.
Beau and I were just having a debate about how to mail something. I say you put it in our mailbox with the flag up, mailman takes it. He says he doesn't trust that system and doesn't think it's real, so he's driving to the post office to drop it off. I polled my staff to jokingly ask how they mail things and settle the debate and my two twenty-something employees told me they don't think they've ever actually mailed something. So now I feel 100 years old. But, I was able to teach them how to mail a letter today.

The weekend was pretty good. We were out and about doing kid stuff on Saturday and then came home to carve pumpkins. We were still in bed on Sunday morning when Beau's brother text to asked if we wanted to meet for breakfast. It turned out to be a good thing getting out of the house early because I felt more productive the rest of the day. We didn't have plans after breakfast and Beau wanted to play the new Call of Duty game. I got some stuff done around the house and played board games with DS.
TOT tonight around our neighborhood with DS. Yesterday was a downpour all day and this morning, so I'm hoping it lets up a bit while we're walking around.

twinmomma, I always take my mail to the post office drop box. I know the mailman will take it with the flag up, I just don't trust that it will be there when he comes. Mail theft is huge in our area and even if it doesn't contain a check, thieves are still known to take anything out of mailboxes. And yes, I still write checks. I can't stand that my city's utilities charge for online payments, so I write a check because I think it's stupid to charge in 2022.
twinmomma, my office is 1/2 block from the post office. We put our mail in basket for the mail lady to pick up. If she doesn't make it before we close, we walk it to the post office. If I'm home and mailing something I walk to the only locked mailbox in our area to drop it in the slot. I also still write checks to a couple different companies because they charge an extra fee to use a card. Umm I am looking at you health insurance company and IRS.
DD was a zombie this morning. I swear getting ready this morning was like walking through a tar pit covered in fog.
We are doing a 2 day Hotel Transylvania movie marathon for Halloween.
It's my first day back at work since returning from Hawaii - since 3 of my kids had fall break last week. Whomp whomp. It was an awesome trip to the Big Island - with 3 nights in Volcano and 5 nights on the Kohala coast/West side North of Kona. We came back on Saturday - checked out of our place and went to lunch, killing time before our 4 pm flight. Came out of the lunch restaurant and the rental car wouldn't start. DH ran to a nearby car dealership and pleaded for help and they came and jumped us. But it probably wasn't just the battery because the car was still acting like it would shut off, so it was a very stressful drive to the airport. Then after we landed, DS3 puked on the way home at 12:30 am. He puked right after the flight there too, but was fine in between, so I think it might be something with ear pressure/motion sickness? Who knows. But layering on those couple of things on top of a long flight with 4 kids 10 and under was interesting
twinmomma, anything with financial information in it, I take into work to mail. I have two envelopes on our mailbox right now for pickup (school photos for grandparents).
Powerball is up to $1B. Precovid, there was a group lotto pool at work, but if it's still going on, I'm no longer included. I asked DH to stop and buy some tickets, and he sent me a link to do it online and now I want to buy all the tickets. (I don't buy tickets on a regular basis, but I bought $20 worth today).
This week is so crazy that I didn't have time to type it all out...
Yesterday was my in-office day, after a weekend of hard labor at home. We are finishing off another part of the basement, and the contractor told us mid last week that he wanted to start yesterday, so it was a scramble to get it all cleaned out. Then picked up kids from school, picked up DD1's friend on the way home, dropped them off at a store per their request, picked up pizza for dinner next door, and ran home to get DD2 ready for ToTing. THen DD2's friend's mom called to ask if they could come over before we headed to another house - totally unprepared, but sure!
ToTing was total chaos, and DD2 quit at like 630 (which was awesome in my book).
Today DD2 had to speak at Mass, DD1 cantored, so I dropped them off, ran home quickly to get a few things done, then back for 10am Mass. Came home to put in an online grocery order, which wiped out as I was checking out, so that was awesome. DD2 has soccer tonight. She's been complaining of ear pain, I can't get her an appointment until tomorrow morning, which is shaping up to be an insane day.
Tomorrow I'm dismissing the kids at 11 (they have a 1245 dismissal, so just a little early). DD1 has a telehealth therapy session at 1130. Then DD2 has a telehealth for her meds, which I will take from the car on the way back to school for parent teacher conferences. Then once that's done DD2 has a therapy telehealth appointment, which she will kick off while I'm on my way home from school. So DH is going to have to take DD1 to get her ear checked out while I'm doing... everything else.
Thursday the kids have piano, and then Friday DH and I are going away for the weekend. I'm excited, but there's prep to get things ready for the sitter, and DH knows nothing, so that's all on me too.
