I've been living with the outdoor doormats the previous owner of my house left here for almost 6 years. They're not my style and by now they're pretty beat up. If I'm going to spend the money on new ones, I want something durable that will also last for years. I've had my eye on one at LL Bean and of course the design I want is no longer available. I do not want one made from coconut husks - the last one I had fell apart quickly. I'm more inclined to go with an abstract design over a solid color or something with words.
Any suggestions on where to buy good quality doormats? I need 2 and would prefer to spend no more than $150 total.
We have LLBean waterhog mats, one of which is outside our front door. (It's a design with a dog silhouette on it.) It's under a portico roof, but it's several years old and doesn't show any noticeable wear. It's not "cute" like some of the colorful designs I've seen, but I don't think it's ugly, and it wears like iron. We also have waterhog mats inside each exterior door.

I have that exact waterhog mat with the dog silhouette inside!
As I've been looking into this, I've found a number of places making doormats from recycled lobster trap rope, which seems to meet my criteria. My only concern is I think it may slip all over my Trex porch without a rubber backing.
I love LLBean waterhog mats! I have a tan one with a dot/circle design by our back door (where we get more foot traffic). They are super tough and very easy to clean. We also have one that we keep under our dog's water and food bowls. It has totally saved our wood floor there.
