I totally picked up on the Canadian border bit! But my dad pointed out the ranch is not necessarily right up on the NP. But still, it's nowhere near Canada it seems.
I didn't pick up on it this episode but I have in the past, that there's nowhere near the right amount of snow for the season.
I will add to your list of inaccuracies: how freaking fake was that bison?!
They seem to be in Bozeman often so I assume the ranch is somewhere in that part of Montana.
They folks near Darby, MT. South of Missoula and west of Helena and Bozeman. We stayed at a ranch nearby and drove by their ranch for filming a few times. Other guests were very excited lol
I quit that show when Beth and Rip took that boy in. What fucking assholes they were to him. And the creepy loyalty on the ranch. No, no. John Dutton is a psycho.
Kayce is the livestock commissioner so he probably wasn't doing ranch business up on the border.
But that's just about the only part of the premier that didn't bug me. It was so BORING. I've really liked this show but I am not in the least bit excited to keep watching. It just feels like the same thing over and over at this point. And I am especially over the string of misfortunes that keep befalling Monica. She's like a soap opera character at this point - next thing we know, she'll be possessed by the devil or buried alive.
I almost started a fight with H last night when he said the writing was good. We were watching the second episode. I guess it's not terrible (certainly not as bad as FBI, which is probably the worst written show we watch (well, H watches... I fall asleep within the first 10 minutes)).
I'm tired of the Duttons. They do terrible things and escape all consequences. They're self righteous assholes, and I dislike them more every season. I don't have the right words, but the whole thing has started to feel very "trumpish" to me. I want to see the whole family in jail.
And someone needs to face serious consequences for what they did to those wolves. That was straight up unnecessary bullshit.
I was going to say it's unrealistic that the governor would fire the chief of staff for nepotism but I suppose we've seen that before IRL. I just wish we'd see the political establishment fighting back against them because there's no way they'd escape that.
Governor John gave no shits about education in the state. How long can he get away with only focusing on what HE wants to focus on? Like it or not governor you've got a bigger job than that.
Agree with all of this! Its not that great of a show and people go nuts over it. It is the one thing DH and me watch together though so I'll keep hate watching it lol

I really enjoyed the first season, and even most of the second season. Third season was meh and by the fourth season I was over it. Not sure we'll watch this season.

I watch some truly terrible TV, including fbi. I even watch swat which has to be some of the worst acting out there. This thread is confirming my decision to not bother getting caught up with Yellowstone (I'm a season behind). At least until my next massive bout of insomnia where I throw out my very minimal standards. It's either that or rewatch, again, all of the wire or sopranos. There's no in between
We enjoyed it in the beginning, but it feels like it's taken a hard right turn to appeal to the "MURICA!!" crowd and now it's just...yikes.
This is honestly why I’ve avoided it.
Based on the people who RAVE about it, it just seems like it’s not really geared for me.
This is where I'm at. It also feels like Cowboy Sopranos to some extent - that everything is for "the family" in terms of the lengths they'll go to and the insanity of revenge plots against them.
