It's our anniversary today. DH forgot again. We went away for the weekend a few weeks ago, so I think he thought that checked the box. Oh well.
This is the first weekend since probably August that we have almost nothing to do. DD2 is taking an entrance exam for private school tomorrow morning here at home. Other than that, we have no real plans. My dad has been home alone while my mom is away, so I may invite him to lunch or dinner. DH will work. DD1 already told me that her friends aren't around this weekend. I may try to find a friend for DD2.
I don't know what I will do with all this free time!!!!

Beau and I are headed to one of the few off-road parks in our state that doesn't have snow. It's supposed to be sunny this weekend which means it will probably be busy. We'll be rolling into the first come first serve campground after dark around 9pm tonight, which always makes trying to find a spot a little tricky. Hopefully we have a fun weekend of riding and relaxing.
Tomorrow we're doing family pictures in the afternoon. The photographer is going to be set up at this super cute covered bridge. It's going to be cold but hopefully the "quick mini session" is actually quick so my family doesn't kill me. Our bribe to get the kids to cooperate is dinner out and a visit to the Festival of Trees that they love afterwards. Hundreds of trees all decorated differently and you get to drop raffle tickets in for the ones you want to try and win. It's an annual tradition for the girls and I and now beau's son is hooked too even though we've never won a tree.
On Sunday we'll put up all of our Christmas decorations and relax. The kids will start to gather up any must have packing items for our trip since they won't be back until right before we head to the airport on Wednesday.
And I think tonight I'm going to road trip to a gluten free bakery that I love to pick up some treats just because. They posted this morning that they've got pumpkin pecan pop tarts and a bunch of other delicious looking stuff.
The plan this weekend is to lay low since DH is still pretty sick. I'm cool with that plan since it will be cold and a little snowy. I'll take the kids to the book fair at school this evening. Tomorrow I have a therapy appointment. Then I will stop in my office to give it a quick clean since we have an audit next month. I'll stop at the grocery store on my way home. On Sunday, we'll start cleaning up the house since we'll be hosting my in-laws for Thanksgiving next Saturday.
Tonight DD just has 5-7 pm softball at the hitting facility. I realized DH and I haven't had a dinner alone in months and my parents go back to the East coast soon, so I asked them if they would watch the boys during softball so DH and I could grab dinner together. So that will be good to catch up with DH while not distracted by kids/TV/phones.
Tomorrow is also our most wide open day in forever mae0111 . I'm going to get the 3 boys haircuts and try to get myself together for our hosting family and Thanksgiving. Yesterday during WFH I worked on cleaning up our backyard because that's where we'll have Thanksgiving dinner.
Sunday, craziness starts - my sister and her family (husband and 3 kids who are 11, 8, and 5) fly in from Maryland and land at 9 am. One of DS2's TK friends has a bday party 10-12 and DS1 has an 11:30 basketball game, so we'll take the kids to those while my sister's family gets their rental car and gets settled at my parents' condo here. Then we'll meet them at LegoLand - my sister bought annual passes for her and the kids when they were here for spring break and wants to use them again. Then DD has a basketball double-header with games at 4:50 and 5:55 pm.
Next Monday-Wednesday we have the 6 older cousins all doing camps. The 5-year-olds will be at an animal camp at a humane society, the 8-year-olds are doing cooking camp at the YMCA, and the 10/11-year-olds are doing 10 am -noon surf lessons each day. My toddler has daycare Monday but not Tuesday/Wednesday because his daycare provider is having surgery Tuesday. We also have plans to all go to a lightscape event at the botanic garden, an adults only lunch, and the turkey trot run. My sister's family goes non-stop when they're here and I also have to work some next week and prepare to host 18 people for Thanksgiving (our good friends and their 3 kids also join us every year, plus my parents). It will be nuts But then my sister's family goes home the day after Thanksgiving and that weekend is wide open, so we'll rest then.
I had my annual exam this morning with anew doctor and I was not impressed. Doc didn't even introduce her and maybe said 4 sentences. It was so opposite of my other doctor who asked how work, kid, and generallufe was going. New doc didn't even listen to my lungs or ask about stress level. I think I need to look for a different OB/GYN.
I've been fighting a nasty headache all week. Saw the acupuncturist yesterday and feel better today but still don't feel like eating much.
Weekend will be pretty quiet. Everyone we know seems to be sick. I'm thinking movies and soup kind of Weekend. I also need to grocery shop.
186momx, when I lived in DC, the gyn I saw there was like you describe. I told DH I’m pretty sure she just saw me as a uterus attached to a wallet. Never went back.
This weekend is quiet. I want to do some quilting to finish a quilt gor dear friends who just moved to Oregon. I was hoping next week would be calm and I could take it as vacation time. I’m going to try to work as little as possible, but Monday I have a client lunch, Tuesday I have one call that’s really a can’t miss (plus MIL is having hand surgery that morning and DD has a dermatologist appointment in the afternoon), Wednesday I have a mammogram because why not, and then Thursday is a cookathon. I’m hoping Friday to Sunday are clear.
The DDs and I were supposed to get hair cuts for the first time since April today, but our hair dresser is sick. Not sure what he we can get in.
We host a big party the night before Thanksgiving for friends and neighbors.Just appetizers, desserts and drinks, but 30+ people are attending! I'm shopping for food and beverage for this today. Being I'm in a rural area, I'm hoping the stores are not too crowded.
I'm going out with friends tonight too, which I don't get to do much, so happy me!
DS, DH and friend went to a college football game. It’s not nearby so they drive a while then froze (25 degrees) at the game and now are driving back.
I threw out a lot of ideas for DD and I to do without the guys, but she wanted to watch Marvel movies so we finished the Thor movies. My co-worker wants us to start Spider-Man but I don’t know where to start. She didn’t want to watch the old one with Toby McGuire, so I guess start with the newer series… We had a great day and cleaned out some rooms too.
Tomorrow I have errands and I did book a high school play. Not sure if I will have time to go, but if I miss it I’m only out $10. It’s a murder mystery and sounds fun. I guess it just depends on how fast I get through my morning stuff.
Whelp, SIL just texted that MIL has Covid so I guess they aren’t coming for the first family holiday we’ve had in 3 years (due to Covid). And by family holiday I mean Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter. I think we did see them for Memorial Day. At least we haven’t been around them lately. I really need to get my flu shot and Covid shot (bivalent), but we’ve had both Covid and flu A the last 2-3 months, so it doesn’t feel urgent, but I know I need to do it especially with the flu covering 3 other strains.
