I dye my eyebrows at home every two weeks and they always look too dark for the first two days. I think it partly looks too dark just because I'm not used to it. The dye does fade pretty quickly too.

What do you use, if you dont mind sharing?
I use this to do my eyebrows and new growth greys around my temples about every two weeks. Godefroy Professional Hair Color Tint Kit, Medium Brown, 20 Applications a.co/d/aH7jsw1
They will calm down after a couple of washes. I know when I get my brows tinted they always seem shockingly dark and then after a day or 2 it's much better. They always tell me to avoid getting them wet/washing them for 24 hours, so if you went home and scrubbed them right away that will probably help them fade even faster.
Oh, this happened to me! I’m blonde and they were for someone with medium/dark brown hair. Like my friends couldn’t help but to laugh when they looked at me. Sadly the color *really* took, I’d say in a 7-10 days it faded to a better color, but it hung around for awhile. Never again.

Sorry to be chuckling on your behalf! If it makes you feel better, this past June I got a spray tan the day before leaving for a girl's weekend. It's the same person I've used lots of times before but she used a new product on me. Instead of not showering until the next morning, I was supposed to shower 2 hours later. Fine, no problem. Except, after I got home H took DD and the puppy out for a walk and never came back! He didn't have his phone with him, and a bear had been spotted a block from our house that week. I was in a panic that they had been attacked by a bear! Finally, I had to run to CVS anyway so I drove where I thought they might have walked and thought to drive by one of L's friend's homes. Sure enough, I spot our dog darting around their yard so I go back there. H is having a beer with the parents and L and dog are playing with their kids. They had walked by there, saw them playing outside and a spontaneous play date started. Next thing you know I'm having a glass of wine, get caught up chatting, and by the time I shower it's almost FOUR hours instead of two. Yeah, it wasn't a good look. Full on Trump Orange, especially my hands and knees. My H was teasing me asking if I was going to the Jersey Shore for girl's weekend and my friends busted out laughing when I met up with them.
