I have no clue who these people are, but regardless, they clearly thought they were above the law since they are (were?) airing their business on national tv.
A long time ago, I went to a lecture about running a business once where the take home message was "You go to jail if you don't declare every penny of income. You don't go to jail if you take incorrect deductions." Three adults, including one accountant, somehow thought hiding 7 figures of income would be no big deal.
I don't know who these people are either. I noticed the part where they were just trying to be good Christians. Like that somehow makes it ok to ignore that whole "thou shalt not steal" stuff.
I have been following this case because these people are trash and I so badly want to see Todd do the perp walk with handcuffs.
Everyone always wondered where the hell their money came from because neither Todd nor Julie's parents are super wealthy. In fact, Todd came from nothing. His mother, Faye, is a huge part of the show. She worked as a seamstress in a run down old factory and brought Todd to work with her. There is an episode where they take their kids back to the abandoned factory to show them "where they came from". It made absolutely no sense. And it's not like Todd Chrisley is this huge Business mogul.
Julie does not get a pass from me one bit, but I do have one small ounce of a soft spot for her because she is a breast cancer survivor. Again, no pass for what she did. She is just as guilty as him. In fact on top of the tax fraud, she was also convicted of Wire fraud and obstruction of justice.
Their middle daughter Savannah posted some BS on Instagram last night like "Don't judge people until you've walked a mile in their shoes" in defense of her parents.
I am always surprised by people who go on TV and think no one will pay attention when they have extreme wealth. Like people that work for the government don't have TVs.
Also, I know it wasn't tax fraud, but here's hoping Jen Shah goes away for a long time for her money laundering and wire fraud charges when she's sentenced in a few weeks.

An old family friend commented on a FB article about this, so I had the unfortunate displeasure of seeing that people are defending these grifters b/c the kids were respectful, and they used clean language on their show. Just good family criminal fun.
One comment, the one ff responded to, was saying they shouldn't go to jail with rapists and murderers because they're a solid family and need to be with their kids. Has anyone seen my eyes? They seem to have rolled right out of my head.
The Bravo Docket podcast did an episode going through the evidence in their case, and it was bad. Very clear that they knew what they were doing all along, including Julie, and I think it says a lot about their egos that they did not plead guilty.. Also, they initially had a really lucrative business but then they got very flamboyant and greedy. I don't feel an ounce of sympathy for them at all.
