I'm sorry I haven't gotten it together enough to run the board group donation, but we can still post about our favorite individual charities. Let's spread some love!
We are super small and are volunteer-run. Our mission is to help immigrant and refugee families thrive by connecting them to care, advocacy, support and community.
It’s very grassroots. We have direct relationships with all of the families we help - from assisting with rent to buying a dress and paying for a hair appointment for a teenage girl to go to prom. We have a birthday party tonight for one of our single dads who has never had a birthday party before.
I've only donated to animal rescues, and an organization that my company works with that provides services for youth with behavorial and emotional challenges in foster care and outreach to homeless LGBTQ+ youth
Our local Humane Society. The township where we just moved from (we are in the same county) withdrew its funding for the HS shelter because some local people attended the meeting who are apparently selfish, hateful and shitty. They didn't want any additional funds outside their taxes to go to care for dumped, vulnerable animals. So, I split up the amount they withdrew from funding and have been paying that monthly, with the balance today.
I also donated to our local community opera house that puts on several amazing theater and music shows, hosts great programs throughout the year. It's an old building that needs lots of love. It is really amazing for everyone but especially our local kids.
We will also donate to our local mannafoodproject.org and our local meals on wheels.

I make some Pride items in my Etsy shop, and donate 20% of my revenue to the Trevor Project. I waited until today to make my 2022 donation (I donated more than the actual 20% because $8 seemed kind of paltry!) and today H&M is matching donations up to $150,000.
I donate to two different refugee resettlement agencies in Pittsburgh. I usually buy things from their various family wishlists monthly to help set up apartments for incoming families. Today I’m doing monetary donations to their general funds.
I gave to Health Care for the Homeless in Baltimore, whose mission is "we work to end homelessness through racially equitable health care, housing, and advocacy in partnership with those of us who have experienced it". In addition to all of the excellent healthcare services provided, they recently built a 70 unit housing complex that provides half of their units for people exiting homelessness and half are affordable housing, set at 30% of the median income of the neighborhood where it is built (in addition to a lot of supportive housing services that were already offered). The staff are incredible, passionate people and do so much for the community. There is a specific dental focused drive today where your donation is matched:
You can also just do a general donation if teeth aren't your thing (lol) at giving.hchmd.org/give/157165/#!/donation/checkout
I am not sure if I'll be doing any others today, but I also have a monthly donation to the Southern Poverty Law Center, our local abortion fund, and our local food bank (if you are looking for other suggestions/ideas).
I bought a shirt from Kind Cotton to gift to my mom. So kind of a donation?
I also signed up for monthly donations to the theater program a dear friend runs in a rural area. My kids have gone to summer camp there and loved it. It brings the arts to a rural, low income area where kids wouldn't normally get much exposure. www.advicetotheplayers.org/

I consult for Hindi’s Libraries, a NY-based org that provides books to children all over the world who otherwise may not have access. Remote villages internationally, foster care agencies, shelters, food banks. They’ve had to slow their shipments due to low funding. If world literacy is a passion for you, here’s their link

Thingsiboughtandliked’s teacher wish lists are up. The master doc is searchable by state and has links that take you to the individual teachers’ lists.
On her Instagram stories she DMs with big companies pushing them to clear lists and will seriously drag those who don’t respond or if she feels the amount is inadequate- it’s hysterical.
ETA also our regular go-to’s, World Central Kitchen and Doctors Without Borders.
Remote Area Medical, it’s kind of like doctors without boarders, but focuses on the US and people without health care here. They get regular donations from me, any time I realize how privileged I am in the health care area www.ramusa.org/
My friend runs an environmental group that’s not a full-on nonprofit yet and I covered their annual web hosting fees a couple of days ago. Last week, I had lunch with a friend who is a development officer and she told me about a big campaign they’re launching (she also mentioned that I am apparently a top five donor to her org), so of course I had to drop some to them today. And then I also did www.solarsister.org, it combines clean energy and female entrepreneurship in Africa and got high marks in a book I once read. I haven’t had much other time today but plan to make several more donations in December.

These diverse interests are great! The last few years I’ve been donating to prisonjournalismproject.org/. It started with a request for books, but after shopping once I decided I’m not qualified to pick them out so now I just donate and let the buy what they need when they have room
