I have a super busy day today. And my H just texted asking if I could call our insurance agent to ask them a question about making a claim on something. It's something that he's responsible for, so no, H, how about you call them?! You are retired and DON'T WORK! Take a break from your 3 hour lazy gym routine and call yourself. Or better yet, stop by their office that is literally 1 mile from where you are this morning?!
I passive-agressively texted him the phone number to call instead of answering him, lol.
Bernadine - That is ADORABLE! I'm cracking up at her worrying about the age difference.
@sameoldstory - They suck. That's so horrible! I think you were in insurance, right? I am as well and would be happy to look into our internal postings once you've had time to process and you're ready.
I feel SO much better today! Today is jammed with meetings and audit requests - I wish this audit was OVER.
I thawed a bunch of chicken and have a chicken and rice soup recipe I want to make later.

@sameoldstory - shit - I'm so sorry! Take a few days to process things. Don't let your brain go to worst case scenario. You are smart and capable and will find a way.
My bff and I have quarterly "Hot Mom" days (Megan Thee Stallion inspired) where we take off work, drop the kids at daycare and lay around watching TikTok and forgetting we have to be moms and adults for a few hours.
After we drink coffees on the couch, we're going to grab lunch at Chipotle, get permanent bracelets and manicures together.
It's also her birthday this weekend, so I'm surprising her with a 3 layer pistachio & honey cake.

My dogs are short haired and not built for the cold weather. They also don’t understand how weather works. They want to go outside and play so I let them out. They realize it’s cold and want to immediately back inside. While inside they forget it’s cold, want to go back out 2 minutes later and then act personally offended when it’s still cold. Repeat all day long.
We switched cell phone carriers and in the process got new phones. It has been an intense 48 hour ordeal involving H setting up three new phones and then accessories to pair with phones. Plus my number didn't port over correctly so I spent yesterday getting that figured out. H and DS had their phones shut off too early so they went without phone access for 24 hours. Etc etc
Anyways, this is why people don't change shit lol. Something so small has been so disruptive. I got nothing of substance accomplished yesterday.
My DS6 has a ping ponging fever, a cough, has eaten very little and he had a sore throat. It all started Sunday. I was looking up RSV and he has every symptom but wheezing per the cdc website. I'll be calling his dr this morning.
At this rate he's going to be out of school all week. *sigh*
I'm so sorry @sameoldstory . That's so shitty.
My kids had something similar, and the pedi said there is an adenovirus going around and is taking 7-10 days to run its course. Miserable.
Ds1 had it last week over thanksgiving, ds2 had it Sunday and just went back to school today. Now ds1 is home again today with a stomachache and general feeling like garbage. My H is out of town too. This winter has been brutal already.
I'm so sorry. Where are you located if you don't mind telling me and what do you do? I work for the federal government and we are hiring left and right, I could help you with writing a federal resume and walking you through the application process.
Thank you everyone. I’m solidly in the sit-in-the-corner-crying headspace right now. I hate that my intuition was right. I’ve only been at this job 9 months so I doubt I’ll even get severance. It sucks because they courted me away from a solid job that I really liked, but dangled more money than I could refuse, and then eliminated my position. This just sucks.
I'm so sorry. Big ((hugs))
The same thing recently happened to DH. He left his company of 21 years to go to a new one that heavily recruited him and as only there 7 months. He would have never left his old job if we would have known. He did get a severance so I would push for one!!

Hey. Thanks. I’m in the Philadelphia area. Most of my background is in workers comp insurance and my most recent position was as a Product Owner. Not sure how well that would translate.

I'm staying at my sister's house next week to babysit two basset hounds while they go on vacation. I've bought 50 mini rubber ducks that I plan to hide in their house for the nephews to find when they come home.
I, like so many of you, get SO tired of hearing "where is my..." ALL the damn time. So much so that I have started threatening H and kid that I'm about to start charging them a dollar every time the ask and I will be a rich woman. Y'all. One of my students just sent me an IM asking if I've seen her laptop. A WHOLE ASS LAPTOP. Ma'am....

I am putting our Christmas tree up today and really want to put it in a new place this year but that involves rearranging the entire living room. And I have covid and can only do things in about 15 minute spurts.
I need to just put it in it's usual place, don't I? But it would look so good in the other spot!

If you wait can you get someone else to do it? Or nap in between 15 min increments? We move our couch every year to put the Christmas tree up and it's one of my son's favorite parts of Christmas, so I am pro-rearranging the whole living room!
Actually -we put the tree in a different spot last year and we didn't have to move the couch for it. But we did anyway. LOL
We are going on day 4 of DS being home with some bug, sick enough to not send him to daycare but not sick enough to be napping on the couch and staying out of my way. He is wandering around everywhere. I am very much a "let your body fight it off" person but my mom has of course planted the seed that I am a bad mom because it's Thursday and I haven't taken him to the doctor.

I’m sorry @sameoldstory the industry is crazy right now. Hopefully you land something great asap!
My grammy died this morning. I’m not overly sad because 1. We weren’t super close-she was just not emotional and loving 2. We knew it was coming this week due to a stroke, but 3. She was 98 and has been in relatively good health until now and her mind was still sharp until only recently she was a little forgetful. She was still watching Fox news (eye roll) and her beloved Spurs! This was the last of my grandparents alive which is sad.

You aren't a bad mom! I'm very much the same as you about my kid and myself. I'm on day 5 of something like your DS has and I came into the office today though I don't feel great. My coworker was peppering me with questions including are you going to see a doctor? I said no, I have no one symptom that's concerning like a severe sore throat, ear ache or anything that feels like bronchitis or sinusitis. So why bother anyone? I'm not trying to be tough about it, but it's just a bunch of Covid-negative cold symptoms and fatigue that are leaving me feeling overall crappy.

Anyone have a Ring camera that doesn't need to be wired? Or are the wired ones really, really easy? I think my parents would like one but no one in our family is handy lol

The one for our backyard is battery only. DH ended up getting a solar charger for the battery so he didn't have to take it down to charge anymore.
I don't feel like the doorbell was that hard to install. DH struggled more with the sensitivity settings.

We have had good luck with some of the wired ones, but they just would not work in our new house, so we went with the battery powered one. We actually use the Blink (Amazon version) because it was SO CHEAP compared to Ring, and we liked the form factor better.
