Thanks! And same to you seeyalater52 . I took one today and it was pretty obviously positive right away, so I hope the drop off is steep. Poor H is not sleeping well in the guest bedroom but we are so close to the holidays that itβs just not worth it to βgive upβ now. But then again Iβve always been a little over the top with precautions so I wasnβt sure if that was the case here.
Day 12 and I'm still positive. This is SO FUN.
The only "symptom" I have is a tiny bit of congestion, but it's 30* here and our heater always kills my nasal passages... so yeah, FUN.
Have you ever used a neti pot/nasal rinse? I wouldn't do it and re-test right after, but if you do it once or twice today then test again tomorrow maybe things will be moving in the right direction? Like maybe there's just a bunch of dead/neutralized virus particles still hanging out that tests detect and need eviction.

Iβm so sorry. I tested positive until day 14 and it was the literal worst bc I felt fine aside from some random congestion.

The netipot and I are good friends because of my deviated septum issues. This is a good idea because many of the articles I've read (so much time on my hands) say that it could be dead virus that is picked up. Will give it a shot today and tomorrow because I plan to retest on Wednesday.
Got my bivalent Moderna booster this afternoon. I hadn't gotten it earlier because I had Covid in early Sept, so I waited 3 months. I'm wondering if I got it a little too soon since I saw Laurel Bristow say on IG yesterday that she had Covid in Sept also and was waiting until Spring to get hers. Oh well, its done. I had no reactions to the other 3 Modernas but I know this one is different so we'll see. I have too much holiday shit to do to be laid up!

FWIW, mine made me extremely hungry same day (like needing a full second lunch hungry) and next day I was SO tired.

Iβm sorry Iβve essentially turned this thread into my diary, but Iβm starting to get nervous that our efforts to isolate from the kids will just mean that they will have Covid over Xmas instead of now and mean we canβt go to my parents. π
For folks looking for (Moderna) bivalent boosters for kids <5 prior to Christmas Walgreens is now booking for this age group starting on Thurs. Shipments will likely be in by then.
Shipments are apparently arriving. Walgreens is updating open appts for <5 Moderna boosters starting Tuesday 12/13 in some places!
I'm bleeding money on home tests. Everything online from our insurance says that your provider can give you home tests, but everyone I talk to is all "oh ya I've heard of that... I'm not sure who has them..." The one time they were able to scrounge up a box of tests they were only for ages 15+ and expired like two weeks later. It's annoying.

That's so frustrating! Who is your insurance provider? I have had good luck googling "<insurance> free COVID tests". (For three different insurance companies now.)

Tricare... I've googled and it says they can be ordered by your Dr if deemed medically necessary aka showing symptoms, but then when you talk to them they just send you for a PCR if you're showing symptoms.

What state are you in? We can get them free from our library. Nothing like that near you?
This is where Iβll add the waste of those tests is killing me!! Why are they packaged 1-2 in a box with tons of paper and plastic trays?!? :::melts::::

No, they had a very short window like a year ago that they sent out a couple free tests if you signed up, and I got those and couldn't get more after. They ended all free testing programs awhile ago π

Oh man, that is rage inducing, especially since it's Tricare! Ugh, that really sucks. Sorry. It makes me want to smuggle tests to you through my insurance.

Did you try the base pharmacies? Thatβs where I got ours, just walked in and got 4 per family member. Thought it was a limited time, until they ran out.
I just tested positive this morning. First time Iβve had it. My H is sick too. Iβm freaking out because we saw my parents on Sunday (we were feeling totally fine) but we were likely contagious. Accepting all hair pats π¬
Hugs RoxMonster. it's our first also. DH was pretty sick so he did paxlovid and is doing great now at day 5) . For me so far it's just a cold (not even the worst one I've had in the past 6 months). I'm on day 2.
RoxMonster, here's an anecdote that might make you feel better... I tested positive the Tuesday after Labor Day weekend. We had went to two parties on Monday. I had felt no symptoms when we left the house for the parties (otherwise we wouldn't have gone). I started getting a little sneezy that day but I thought nothing of it because I'm allergic to everything. Woke up Tuesday with chills and headache and figured I should test, and it was blazing positive, so I had to have been pretty contagious the prior day. The only person that got it out of like 20 people I saw Monday was my MIL. My parents did not get it despite me sitting next to them and eating. They were both recently boosted though. Anyway, definitely not a guarantee your parents will get it and I hope they don't. <3

Did you ask your kidsβ school? I work at a school and we have tons of tests to give out as needed. My own kidsβ school will send them home if requested, too.

I hope your parents stay negative!
Thank you! So far the most annoying thing is the hacky cough but otherwise not feeling too bad.

I just went to Walgreens and asked for my tests under my insurance and they gave them to me (I asked at the pharmacy counter).
RoxMonster, also it wouldn't hurt to call about Paxlovid if you want, I swear I felt so much better even after the first dose, and I recovered very quickly. It does taste godawful though.
RoxMonster , my anecdote is similar to beerlovers! Went to DD's school for an assembly and was around H, DD, and a couple friends and felt totally fine. Later that night I was stuffy, woke up with chills and more congestion and was instantly positive. No one I was around tested positive and I am on day 13. And my symptoms really only lasted 2-3 days outside of some lingering congestion that is normal for me in winter.
And to update after neti pot use. I rinsed last night and again this AM. Tested 3.5 hours later and there is still a veeeeeeery faint positive. Much lighter than the previous day, so I am guessing that cleared out some dead virus. Fingers crossed I am negative tomorrow so I am one step closer to not masking at home.

Just in time⦠federal government is apparently going to re-open mail distribution of home tests through www.covid.gov/tests tomorrow.

DeathSantis is now trying to get the state supreme court to get involved against cdc and fda and pharma and probably a whole bunch of other shit thrown at a wall to see what sticks.
"At a roundtable he convened of Covid vaccine skeptics and opponents β including his own surgeon general β he formally called on the state Supreme Court to impanel a grand jury to investigate whether pharmaceutical companies criminally misled Floridians about the side effects of vaccines, a position at odds with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention."
