She LIVES for it. I have said this before but I met her years ago, and she was an attention seeking asshole then. Another coworker worked with her in a different capacity a few years later, and had the exact same experience. I hope the Ds take their money and throw it at Ruben Gallego. Exactly. I'm pretty sure she saw the writing on the wall after this election cycle and knew there was a good chance she'd be primaried and lose. And she has no qualms about potentially giving the seat away to the GOP as she enjoys playing the role of spoiler. My hope is she just siphons away R votes because they'd be willing to vote for her as an I and not a D. 

She is bizarre. Her whole political career is basically defined by political expedience. She'll go wherever the wind blows. No conviction whatsoever.

This really pisses me off, because if she does run as an Ind, she will take more votes away from the Democrats than moderate Republicans. It's already difficult for Dems in this state, we don't have the votes to spare. If she runs, the GOP will win, even though Reuben Gallego is a strong candidate. What do we think the chances are that she got money from GOP lobby to do this?

In theory, it shouldn’t matter, right? Maybe there will need to be more catering to Joe Manchin to keep him on board, but she always had the ability to vote against the party view anyway. And Bernie Sanders is independent, but he votes and caucuses along dem lines so he is usually counted in that 51 number, right?

My understanding was that the 51 vote thing just meant that Harris would be able to breathe a little more. That said, Sinema’s departure probably signals that she’ll be less likely to support democratic initiatives and that Harris will be needed for that reason.

I think the issue is more about re-election, but I’m not a political scholar and could be wrong. I’m also not great with word right now so this may not make sense.

I was under the impression everyone in AZ hated her so I don't think even moderate Ds would gravitate to her. But who knows.

I should have clarified. She'll take the moderate Republican (assuming Reps run another far right whackadoo) and a lot of the Independent vote with her...she just barely beat McSally in 2018. The moderate Reps and Inds in this state are our swing votes right now, we have a lot more Reps than Dems. While it certainly looks from the outside like AZ is turning blue, it's REALLY REALLY close. If the GOP runs a "normal" candidate (meaning not a Trumpy election denier), Dems will absolutely lose.

I think there’s a very good chance she sees the writing on the wall, decides the negative attention isn’t filling the void, and doesn’t even run again. I’d put a hundred Stanley nickels on her pulling a Tulsi Gabbard and heading to Fox News instead.

Not relevant to Sinema, but TG is such a reminder of how thin and permeable the line was between Bernie Bros and the GOP hate group. Are Bernie Bros still around?  People rallied so hard in 2020 and the midterms, plus the Jan 6th nuclear fallout, that I haven noticed anything.

She is definitely setting up to springboard to some sort of high profile $$$$$$ role. Punditry, consulting, industry… not sure. But I’ve said for a while I’d be shocked if she runs again and this reinforces that for me. She’s a wild card though with no convictions so who knows.

When she first entered congress I was so hopeful. Openly bisexual and not claiming any religion. I even encouraged a friend who was a legislative liaison as her military posting to try to get assigned to her. It wasn't too long before I had nothing but contempt for this bitch and am happy my friend never worked alongside her.

I’m not sure she will take away many votes from D’s. Every Democrat I know who voted for her wants her to go away.
