apparently the dessert is going to be rum and simple syrup infused watermelon with spherified creme de menthe and lime juice, with some sort of whipped cream.
britt, it's his hobby, but he's pretty serious about it. he cooks pretty fancy dinners every night, has read books and books (including the massive modernist cuisine books), has tons of equipment (sous vide machine, chamber vacuum sealer), and I think if he wasn't an engineer, he'd definitely be a chef.
GEEZ, I want to come to a meal at YOUR house!! I think molecular gastronomy is so fascinating and a lot of the more 'modern' cooking methods like your husband uses. Just can't justify all that awesome (and expensive) equipment. That all sounds sooooo yum!
I'd love that sunchokes recipe! My husband made a salad with them once that was good. Then the time I tried, it was not soo good
jennuinne that is too funny! My friend once tried to make peanut butter cookies by putting peanut butter and butter on a pan and baking it. You can imagine what a dissaster that was. Funny thing is now she is in culinary school!
