We normally don't get our kids any big gifts for christmas or hanukkah. A few small things for hanukkah, a few medium things for christmas.
For whatever reason, we got DS a hoverboard (thanks everyone who commented on my other thread). Now the gifts are totally out of balance. I feel like I need a "big" thing for my DD, but I don't have any experience with big gifts!
She has wanted a 3d printer for over a year; I could get that. I'm mixed about it b/c it sounds like more work and trouble for me. but may end up with it anyway.
I've read all the idea threads, but does anyone want to toss more ideas at me? I guess in the $150 range, which seems crazy to me but here we are. FYI she is not into AG, which is too bad b/c that stuff adds up quickly. I considered a big beanbag chair but 2 kids and 1 beanbag chair sounds like a nightmare.
We are doing luggage this year, a theater experience gift, and sports shoes. I guess it doesn’t sound that exciting but the luggage (backpack/ duffle combo) will probably last 15 years minimum.
She has a lava lamp, squishmallo and World Cup sticker set on her list for smaller things and Rainbow High dolls.
My DD is 10 and a pain to buy for. We're in the same boat as you are. DS is old enough / big enough that he wants a good bike that will last for years. We're giving him $300 towards it, and DD's gifts are not worth nearly as much. Her big request was for an Instax mini. So she got that and some film. The film is crazy expensive, so that gives people an idea for next birthday too.
