nicolewi, did you make it to the Girl of the Year of launch with your daughters? How was it? Hope it worked out for you! My daughter is just getting into AG and I think the Kavi looks adorable.
We made it!!!!!! Just got home late tonight. It was a great trip Overall but we definitely had some rough moments!
My girls loved being at AG. We were there for HOURS. Event itself was sort of weird, in that I didn’t feel like they really told us much about Kavi. It was more just like having brunch, and then going shopping. I feel like they could have capitalized on their captive audience a whole bunch more!!!! Kavi is super cute. My girls actually ended up going home with Claudie, whom they also really like. She is the new historical doll from the 1920s. Pretty sure they would have gotten Kavi if the store did a better job promoting her, since they really liked both and were debating. Kavi is very cool, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they end up with her later. I like her meet outfit a lot. One weird thing is that the book isn’t ready until March?? I think that is strange! A huge part of the girl of the year is usually having her story available right away.
nicolewi , DD comes home tomorrow and I will tell her about Kavi and see if she is interested. I don't know if 9 - 10 year olds care so much about AG anymore.
I would love to buy the book for both DD and eventually DS to read. I wonder if they didn't release it separately to encourage more sales of the doll first.
PDQ - Besides the whole story of her cultural background which already matches my kids, it is total coincidence that they set her story in our town!

Oh yay! I’m glad you guys made it! My daughter is a little young so she’s not into the historical types yet but Claudie looks very cool! It is kind of weird Kavi wasn’t more heavily promoted at the launch! Also strange the book isn’t ready yet. Seems a lot of people rely on the books to really connect with the character.
sent, I am not Indian/south Asian but I am from NJ and I love that she’s from here. How cool that it’s so specific for you! (Sorry to be vague, didn’t want to quote exactly). I think 9-10 is the intended AG audience so if your daughter is interested I would absolutely buy her.
sent, I think 9-10 is still totally a great age for this. My 13 year old is still into AG stuff, which I realize is totally unusual, but she's connected with the whole story/history aspect and become kind of a collector. There are lots of adults who collect AG, too.
My just-turned 10 year old is definitely still into it as well.
My almost 8 year old should be totally at a great spot for AG, but right now she's mostly into it just b/c of her sisters. She loves Barbie...Barbie everything. At least Barbie is generally a lot cheaper!!!

My 9 year old is still super into AG. I actually think the 9-11 year old is the age range for them.
And even if she’s not into it, I would be tempted to get one for myself!
