The ambulance waiting for his family under such dire circumstances worries me. It suggests they don’t think arriving at a hospital faster is going to make a difference.

This was my reaction too. If there was a chance they’d be screaming out of there.

Ok douche, go ahead and call it mud. My husband DID have halitosis. We addressed it after I talked to you girls on here and guess what? Years later, no problem. Mofongo, you're a cunt. Eat shit. ~anonnamus
So scary! I heard he has a pulse but is not breathing on his own. I was thinking cardiac arrest at first. Several people on my FB feed are thinking Commotio cordis. I’m hoping he recovers.
There was a guy on the boys' soccer team when I was in high school who got hit during a game. It triggered some sort of cardiac episode and he died on the field. It was truly awful.
Flashback to Christian Erickson collapsing on the field. This is so scary. I hope he’s ok.
This was my first thought. I was not watching tonight, but I watched when Erickson collapsed and it was probably the scariest thing i've ever seen on live television. I hope Hamlin has a similarly great outcome - but how awful to have this happen. My heart goes out to him and his family and everyone who was present for this tonight.

I really hope this guy is ok.
So sad. Many on my FB feed suspect Commotio cordis.
His marketing rep just said his “vitals are back to normal” and they are “putting him to sleep to put a breathing tube down his throat” and running tests. So, good news?

If his vitals are normal, why would they put him on a vent? (I'm genuinely asking, not being snarky.)

Well, they might be “normal” with the help of the vent and pressors. 🤷🏼♀️

It’s also being passed down likely 2nd or even 3rd/4th hand from something a doctor or other health practitioner said so a lot of potential room for misinterpretation too.

I know no one loves twitter, but this post is actually helpful regarding the questions on vitals and intubation.
Hopefully I linked it right, I’ve never done it before.
Well, it’s a random MD commenting on his friend’s tweet. They can get vitals back, brain function is likely the concern at this point. He may very well be getting therapeutic hypothermia, but really, we don’t know anything. Definitely can’t speculate on his brain function.

I don’t think it mentions brain function at all. But explains how vitals can be normal but still require intubation, which I was confused about.

Oh, well vitals can be made stable with meds (and machines), doesn’t always mean great prognosis. I mean, I hope it is!
ETA: The tweet you shared mentioned the hypothermic treatment, which is more for brain function, that’s why I mentioned it.
