DD has had braces since late summer. Her teeth looked great in front but her bite is off and she had an overbite. Now, over the last few months, she's developed really big gaps between her teeth and her front teeth are event starting to lean outwards at the bottom. I mean, they do not look good right now. I'm bringing it up again at her next appointment. Last time, they said it was normal and her teeth would come back together, but honestly it's to the point where it looks goofy and she's feeling embarrassed.
Did anyone else have this happen? I don't recall this from when I had braces.

Hopefully they will shift soon. I am not an expert but it’s probably part of the process? I feel you on the looking goofy issue. Dd (13) had an expander and braces put on in august. She had perfect front teeth before, and the expander caused them to shift very far apart right before school pictures. They are now back together and looking good. However, she’s still missing both top canines. That’s why she got the expander and teeth pulled- to make room for those canines to come down.
Braces are still on; she has a while to go yet. They just look so dramatically different and....not great.
Is she doing rubber bands for the bite? Is her ortho doing her hardware in stages? It’s funny you post this because we had same concerns. Ds had perfectly straight teeth, but an overbite that wasn’t even visible, but we still needed to correct. He got his bottom braces in July and then in August got his tops. They wanted to wait I think 10 weeks for him to get the rubber bands to correct his bite and he also got a power chain (I think this is what is used to close gaps if my googling is correct). Before that appointment in November, I was like holy crap you have the Grand Canyon between your front teeth. The ortho has assured me this was fine and normal. His also looked not great. They seem to be closing since then.
