DD is a voracious reader and I would love to find a way to track her reading, keep a list of books we own for when I’m out shopping, and look for similar books/books she may enjoy. I am not at all a reader, so I don’t do this for myself. Is Goodreads the app we need for this? If so, can she use it on her Chromebook or is it only for phones/tablets? Or is there something else? Sorry if these are stupid questions!
I set my son up with a Goodreads account. I like it for myself and he's enjoying it. I like that he can start writing reviews for the things he reads. You could set up a separate "shelf" for books you own so it would be easy to check on that when you're out. I don't have a chromebook, but I'm sure it would work on there. I use it on my phone and any laptop or desktop. Another thing my son likes is that it gives suggestions based on books he's already read.
I am just thinking about doing this for my kid as well but I want to find out if goodreads has a strict age limit on it. I like the website a lot better than the app so accessing via chromebook will be fine.
I love Goodreads for myself, but I don't know if there is an option for a child account - I see a lot of stuff suggested on the homepage, not all of it is kid appropriate.
What about Beanstack? This is what our library uses for reading challenges and the site is pretty much content free. Also your local library might offer some kid reading challenges that your DD would enjoy participating in.
