I don’t know why, but my hip is killing me. Like I had to use the stupid massage gun thing in the middle of my work day because I couldn’t sit in my chair. Plus I worked all day while you did whatever it is you do all day besides go for a run.
So tonight as I’m looking for new bras to order DD, I don’t appreciate you coming to tell me the kids need showers. Go tell DD to get in the shower, help DS wash is hair, and let him shower the rest of himself. He’s perfectly capable. So no, I’m not going to drag my painful hip into the shower with DS because you don’t think you should have to do anything. Go take care of something besides your effing marathon training.
While I appreciate you pulling me aside and letting me know how things actually went down. I don't think telling me to go back to X employee to tell them that Y employee was actually at fault was your best idea. It is like when you have kids and they both fight, fault doesn't matter is my point. Anyway, then Y employee pulled me aside and said that it was Z employee that started it. I guess I won't go back to the boss and tell them because it already made it back to me. But, I don't appreciate listening to my conversation and then jumping in to guide me incorrectly when I guess you were wrong about whose fault it is. The point is it is both of their faults because they decided take action without asking the person who was actually working on it.
Dear H Leaving work to pick DD up and take her to practice and then go back to work was a good plan as you said you would be able to take her. But getting her to practice 1 hour early is too much. She didn't eat or do her other stuff because you picked her up 40 minutes after she got home. She was tired and hangry and only ate an apple for dinner at 8:15pm. You helped but made things worse Wife & daughter
Dear Gym Family Thank you for all the offers to give DD a ride over the next few months. They are appreciated greatly, and I will be taking advantage of them. Gym Mom
Dear Oregon Your 2 hour zoom tax update tonight better be worth it. I really don't want to sit through you rambling about some obscure law that affects maybe 1% of taxpayers. I'm talking bovine credits, film credits, etc. I could listen about FRANCES, Rev Online, changes to the tax forms because that would all be helpful. Tax lady
supertrooper1, its a credit for bovine manure that is turned into biofuels so doesn't effect a whole lot of regular tax payers. Those that do deal with also know all the differences between a cow bought and a cow born. I have a few clients that have cows but we are talking less than 10 cows and they sell a couple a year to the butcher and use one for themselves.
Dear Doggy I'm sorry we left you home with dad on Saturday night. I'm sorry I stayed late at work and didn't get home until 8pm last night. Its tax season so get with the program and stop snubbing me. I need my puppy love after a long day. WPs she wouldn't even come see me for a cookie last night. Sorry Dog mom PS I brought her to work today and she won't leave my side.

Dear pg&e, Why us again!!!!? Seriously? Three times this year in 11 days. Only a dozen houses are out in our neighborhood and it has to be us again. Ugh. I hate you and your monopoly and wish we could just drop you. A very dissatisfied customer
ETA. Now the sump pump alarm is sounding in the middle of the night as we haven’t had power for 10 hours so the bucket is filling. Trying to sleep with pillows over my head to drown it out!
Update: estimated restoration is 10pm on Saturday with rain forecasted tomorrow and Saturday. Currently No standing water in crawl space but we unplugged the alarm so it didn’t irritate us. Dh is ready to book a hotel and I’m team tough it out tonight and hope the 14th isn’t real.
Dear illness, Please go away. And I beg of you, please don't be covid. It's been a year since I had covid and I cannot deal with getting it again right before my big trip. I don't quite feel like I got hit by a bus, but maybe sideswiped. Scratchy throat, congestion, chills, fatigue. Ugh. Signed, Begging to be healthy
I don't like starting my morning having to adress an issue with you. But I do not want to find you up at midnight again. If you can't get your homework done and get some sleep, the job us going to have to go. And don't give me the I could be doing drugs bit. So could I kid.
Signed mom.
Dear Dh,
See above. The reason I know this is because you wake me up every night with your snoring. So I encountered Dd in the hallway while packing my pillows to the spare room. I think I am just going to get my own room like my grandparents.
sandandsea , that's terrible. Since you are in CA, are the temperatures OK to remain in the house? We prefer to stay home and just charge our cell phone and other things with our car. Or maybe just go one night to the hotel and one night at home. All of us in one room is not that much fun, but the kids get to swim in the hotel pool, so they like it. But if it were super cold we would have to leave for warmth.
sandandsea, that stinks. Being without power is the worst. We were without power for 14 days due to an ice storm. 2 days in we broke down and paid a pretty penny for a generator. Best money I ever spent. We get it out yearly to run it and make sure it works. We've only needed it 1 or 2 times in 10 years, but it does give peace of mind. I say it is prevention, because when they predict disasters, we pull it out, get gas, get it ready, and nothing much happens.
Dh can wire it directly into the house to run most things, heat, lights. Tv, just not the air conditioner.
sandandsea, BOO. Can you even buy a gas generator? I know Newsome is making them illegal to buy, just not sure when.. but at least you could power enough for your pumps and a space heater? Solar and a battery wall if you've got the money to spend.
Dear healthcare provider,
You annoy the crap out of me. DS's PCP is out of the office almost constantly, so we're just bounced around from new doctor to new doctor and have no continuity of care. The allergist told us he doesn't like prescribing drugs in general, so now we have 10+ weeks of full body and face hives that we're just going to "wait out" (but should self resolve in a YEAR or TWO) and yet another round of bloodwork requested because labs continue to be off, but no one will tell me if they're off enough to actually be worrisome or not, just that they'll need to consult with yet another doctor, who will provide results back to the PCP, who is out of office, so another random doctor will be assigned to that response....

We have a generator that we use at the track but it’s in our trailer and the road to the trailer yard has been closed due to flooding so not sure if we can get to it. That’s the goal for after work tonight. Then we have to snake an extension cord into the crawl space to the pump and have to find a safe and dry place to run the generator. Ds1 has soccer tonight until 8 so I’m trying to convince Dh that we can get him to practice then eat out right after and come home and get under lots of blankets and be okay. The lows are in the 50s so pretty chilly but I think it would be okay. I really like my own bed.
Mwahaha.. Kaiser just called and said we've been referred to pediatric GI and they're calling to schedule an appointment because his PCP "isn't sure what to do." WTF? Also, WTF would you admit that for???
All I want is for someone.. ANYONE.. to look at his abnormal bloodwork we keep getting back and tell us either "this is not serious - it's abnormal, but not worryingly so, and we'll check back in in 6 months" or "hey, we're concerned about XYZ, so we're making a referral." Instead we get.. No one has looked at your labwork, but we saw that you emailed with a question and no one knows what to do with it so we're referring you to GI.
k3am - I wonder if it’s worth going out of network for an opinion at this point. I’m just not sure where to start, but feels like immunology or something like that?? I wouldn’t see an out of network allergist, but maybe think about an autoimmune specialist??
We got the generator and were able to run the sump pump. The bucket was full but no standing water. It’s going to start raining again tomorrow so I feel better knowing we at least have the generator here to run the pump periodically. I emptied out the fridge as things were already not cold by this evening. I haven’t opened the freezer so we will see if any food survives.
It’s not that cold tonight so far so we are staying home tonight and will play it by ear tomorrow. I really don’t want to pay for and go to a hotel for one non vacation night but don’t want to be cold either. I like comfort.
k3am I think this just proves your instinct before was right. I’d demand a change his pcp and also push an outside opinion since their network doctors aren’t helping. Poor ds, I hate that they aren’t getting answers for you. . Would you consider dropping Kaiser and doing a ppo?
Dear beau, Our linen closet is organized with bins labeled with things like "dental" "adult meds" "kid meds" etc. Last night you were asking me where all the toothpaste is because you had bought extras to have on hand. I checked the bin labeled dental. Nothing. This morning I grabbed a band aid and low and behold, THREE tubes of toothpaste were in the "first aid" bin. Help me help you. Just put it in the right bin when you buy something! No wonder we have so many extras now... I love you, but your system of just chucking stuff in the closet does not help my ADHD brain. Systems are there to help us all! Love, I'm not even an organized person, but I still have you beat by a mile!
k3am, Maybe I'm missing something, but why would GI be the right answer here? That seems... random? Sorry you're still not getting any closer to an answer!
sandandsea we can’t switch insurance until June at the earliest (my open enrollment) and would pay 4x more to move the kids. DH’s - where they’re basically free - just past.

Some of the abnormal labwork that there was concern about is liver related.

Is your DH's worth moving to? You could try to say you had a "qualifying event" and lost coverage through your insurance. Beau was able to cancel his insurance, show the letter saying he was no longer covered, and have it count to get him on my insurance outside of open enrollment time because he "lost his coverage." Maybe talk with your H's HR department about it?

Gotcha, I was still thinking of the rash, so GI didn't compute for me.
k3am- I would be losing my shit about the “let this highly uncomfortable rash run its course because I don’t believe in medicine” answer. Nonetheless the “hell if I know what to do about this so just let me go in another vacation and refer you to GI” answer. I too believe in limiting the number of meds my kids need (my two kids combined have had antibiotics 5 times in their entire 18 combined years of existence, for example), but not to the point of telling them they have to be uncomfortable for months before the people I pay to help them decide they’ve suffered long enough.

k3am, I know nothing about GI issues but IME we have had more luck getting solid treatment plans for DD2’s skin issues from the dermatologist than the allergist. It might be her specific skin issues, but they’d never have her be hive-covered indefinitely!
twinmomma , the kids are on DH's insurance right now. I use the same insurer/network and what we offer for other options isn't as good.
mommyatty , the hives at least don't seem to bother him much. They're not itchy or painful. He said today that the rain sometimes makes them itch (?? I don't know what this means) but I've never seen him even mess with them.
librarychica , the dermatologist is who we saw first, who referred us to the allergist.
We now also got some more testing back this morning (also out of range) and now have a referral for a pediatric rheumatologist.
