We are planning on mainly white subway tile with an accent wall with blue undertones to match our island. Is there any reason to justify buying more expensive white subway tile? I was thinking I could by the inexpensive white subway tile and splurge on the fun accent wall.
When we did the bath reno at our last house, the subway tile was far and away one of our most economical choices. The cabinets were cherry, the floor was a marble mosaic, the counters were quartz, the tub was Kohler cast iron rather than acrylic or other less expensive options... and the subway tile, of which there was a lot, was <$2 per sf. It didn't offer any visual interest (no variation, no crackle finish, etc.), but if what you want is just a plain subway tile I don't really see a reason to pay more for it.
Susie, thanks for the photo of your bathroom. I am glad that the inexpensive tiles worked out for you... your bathroom looked great. I am going to hopefully look at tile over the long weekend and I am hoping I stick with my plan when I actually see the tile in person
