Sorry I'm asking y'all for so much help. In the old powder room the toilet paper holder was directly in front of the toilet. It wasn't hard to reach or anything, so that's still an option:
But I think it's more traditional to go on the side, in which case I think it would need to be centered in the middle of one of the paneling boxes -- probably the one further out?

Does that look weirder? Should I just keep it opposite? Opposite would also make it less visible from the hall.
I think either is fine. My pet peeve with toilet paper holders are when they're to the side and almost behind. If I can easily reach the tp from the toilet, I'm happy.
Will you have a towel bar in the same place as it was previously? I like that all the stuff is stacked on one wall and leaves a visually clear space on the window wall.

my first inclination was to the side where you're showing it. but with it disrupting the visual of the wood and window maybe a freestanding in the corner would be better?
