PNC Bank has the highest interest rate right now for high yield savings accounts. Does anyone have experience, good or bad? I've never used them before.
I did notice in the High Yield savings account thread below that a lot of people use Capital one. It's 3.3% APY vs. 4% for PNC Bank which is why I'm looking into them.
I used them for several years and they were a typical big bank, no problems at all. I moved out of the area and eventually closed my accounts but that was easy enough.
They donated their fitness center's used equipment to my YMCA when I lived in the same town as their headquarters and it was really nice stuff, but I don't think you're asking about that!
I should look into this! I have them right now and don't have any real feedback either way. I haven't had any problems. I like that they have ATM locations that are plentiful in my area as well as in other places in the US that we visit frequently. I mostly chose PNC because I got a cash bonus for signing up through their workplace banking program.

dr.girlfriend, I'm in Washington State. That's too bad it's not available in your state!
So far my experience has been pretty good. I set up my account, but I can't transfer from my bank to PNC because they use Plaid as account verification. It's been a slow process, but I was able to request money from my bank from my PNC account. I had to verify my account first, and then call PNC because there was a hold. Customer service was very helpful. My first transfer is pending.
Not all banks are chartered to do business in all states. That is most likely why some offers are available everywhere.
PNC is my bank though! They have a huge presence here in Maryland so I wonder why they aren't offering it here.
I think they offer the high interest online account in markets where they don't have a large presence to capture customers who would otherwise not have any accounts with PNC.
PNC has been our primary bank for 20+ years. So we have multiple checking and savings accounts with them, and we financed a loan through them once, and all of our experiences have been fine. I'm not in an eligible state for their HY account, which sucks because it would be really handy.
I had a very positive experience with this bank couple of years ago and also one negative situation as well. Anyway it is much easier than dealing with the Korean banks, were i always needed to use translation service pickwriters.com/korean-translation-service for correspondence . Now i closed all my accounts there and don't have to deal with that anymore and honestly it feels like a huge relief.

I have a complaint about them, but it's pretty specific and unlikely to actually affect anyone, but I feel like sharing. My first banking experience was through them when I was in high school. I closed that account when I moved out of the area for good. Moved back to the area many years later married with kids, but dh and I now primarily bank with USAA since we are a military family. But there are no physical branches here, and we wanted to open a savings account for our kids at physical banks, so we went to PNC to do so. Opened an account for ds after his 1st communion and deposited his money. Signed up for online access but never got it and got errors every time I tried to. Went in to a local branch 2 more times and talked to corporate once trying to figure out why I couldn't get online access to my son's account, and apparently it was because my ssn had been used for a previous account with them but didn't match any of the info. they used to create ds's account (under my married name and with a different address and everything) so they kept trying to 'recover' my old user info. and couldn't create new online user info. for me for some reason, and they could do nothing to resolve this and could NOT get me online access to his account. I ended up closing the account intending to open another account somewhere else, and this was a few years ago and the cash has been sitting in an envelope not collecting interest (it's only a few hundred dollars, but still) since. Maybe posting this will finally spur me to actually open an account for him somewhere else now.
