Our washer died the other night, and will cost more to repair than to buy new, so off we go to shop. Consumer Reports top picks were all LG, so I am leaning in that direction. Still trying to decide between top load and front load models. I’m just looking for real life reviews. And if there’s another brand you like, I’d love to hear about that, too!
My washer and drier are LG - purchased in 2011 and still going strong. Washer is a front loader and I've never had any of the issues. I do run a "tub clean" (empty cycle with bleach) every couple of months as recommended and leave the door open when not in use. I wouldn't hesitate to buy LG again.

We have a LG washer and drier we got in Jan 2020. I love it. The app is great and we’ve never had an issue with either piece. I do find we have to choose “more dry” a lot, but that’s not a big deal. I like that it reminds me to clean the washer once a month and our clothes always come out clean. Edit we have a front loader. We never use the downloadable cycle options, but we do love how much we can fit in the washer- it’s amazing.
We have LG stackables. We've had them about 18 months. No issues, other than taking forever to dry sheets because they get twisted inside each other. But that happens with most dryers.
We have an LG washer/dryer circa 2019. The washer is a front loader. I love them. We got ours at Costco. My single complaint about it is the front loader's gasket (the rubbery bit that you're supposed to wipe dry between every load) has these three little square notches that are nigh impossible to get fully dry/clean. (See pic below.) I'm not sure if all newer models have this but it's annoying. I keep the rest clean and dry and haven't had issues overall, but mildew accumulates in that spot in a way that makes me very grumpy. Overall I still love them though.
We just bought an LG last week (replaced a Kenmore which is made by LG). We had to get an LG front loader because our laundry closet is set up for a stacked set and we didn't want to replace the Kenmore dryer. I haven't had it long enough to make a solid judgment, but it's LOUD. Not really a big deal because we never wash overnight but it was surprising to me. It is very fast and does a great job cleaning so far though.
LG washer and dryer here. The washer is a top load no agitator. I like the dryer better than the washer, but both are fine. It took a while to figure out which settings on the washer worked best for my loads. We also chose LG because of Consumer Reports — my lack of enthusiasm makes me think washer/dryers just aren’t that great right now. I do love the little song it sings when the load is done.
We have an LG set purchased in 2020.. front loader. It stinks and gets mildew despite running tub cleans and keeping the door open when not in use. The dryer has some kind of issue where it dings a lot and we have to unplug it to reset. DH thinks it’s the motherboard, but neither of us have spent the effort to try to get it fixed. Besides those issues, it’s fine…
