I had no idea, but I also don’t enjoy whisky so never would have purchased it anyway. However, that’s sketchy as fuck and I’m glad the company is being called on it.
I thought everyone knew they were basically cinnamon schnapps... and not good schnapps at that 🤷♀️
But it's not... per the article the shots are a malt liquor.
which shows how much I know about the difference 😅 I did read the article. And now I know that malt liquor is not the same as schnapps. The headaches I got from both felt the same so I guess that's how I connected the two.
There are 2 different versions of the fireball minis, they get really sneaky with the labeling I think. I remember getting super excited (lol) that I could get fireball at Sheetz in Pennsylvania. Then I looked closer lol.

Tangent, but my local Aldi had Fireball brand “Fireball-filled chocolates” in the specials aisle this week with a clear “contains no alcohol” disclaimer on the box and I thought…. Isn’t that just, cinnamon filled chocolates then?

I saw this going around and felt like I almost knew that. Like a false or vague memory of people talking about it at a bar.
I agree it seems deceiving and in looking back at the articles of the day, 2018 sales) if nips weren’t counted in fireball sales it wouldn’t have out sold Allen’s Coffee Brandy in ME. I wonder how many of the nips sales were people who thought it was whiskey.

My mom bought H some brandy filled chocolates for Christmas that I keep thinking need much more information that they DO contain alcohol. I mean, it says Brandy Filled Chocolates, which is clear and honest, but somehow I don’t expect a box of liquor filled chocolates to just be on a store shelf.

I didn’t but the only reason I’ve ever had them was a recent charcuterie potluck party where someone brought a board with the minis and the chocolates. I did notice the chocolates weren’t real alcohol.
If everyone would utilize the Oxford comma as intended, this wouldn’t have happened!
Seriously though, it’s some sneaky ass marketing! Malt beverages are essentially beer but usually flavored like wine coolers. Who in their right mind would but a single, warm 1.7oz shot of whiskey flavored beer or wine cooler?
