Just wanted to check in on the other winter storm Texans/Okies/Arkansans. How are y'all doing?
We're OK in Austin. Some power outages here and there in the city. The grid is holding, but the fear is real. Personally, we still have power (as of posting this) but it's flickering. We lost some limbs due to ice accumulation.
We're north of Dallas in Richardson and it's been ok here. Our only car is in the shop so we wouldn't be able to go anywhere anyway lol and we haven't had any power outages or even flickering. We haven't had any precipitation today so far, I think we're supposed to get the heaviest ice this evening so we'll see.
I think our dogs are suffering the most from lack of walks lol
I’m in central AR - it’s icy out and we’ve had a few highways close but other than that it’s just super cold. I think we’re getting more accumulation this afternoon.

Middle TN and we are okay. My brother is slightly north of me. He has a tree on his house. They are safe and that’s the main concern.
ETA- my brother and his family are displaced. The tree has caused significant damage. The adjuster cannot safely look at damages due to the ice and tree.
Shortly after my first post we heard that SIL had a tree fall on her car in Texas. H hasn’t heard from her except to know they are not injured.
Glad everyone is ok. In Houston we are fine. Just chilly. I used to roll my eyes at everyone complaining about the cold. 110 lbs later, I can't get my fingers and toes to be warm enough... loving the heated steering wheel in my new car, which I would have also rolled my eyes at this time last year.

I’m in Houston and things seem fine here. Im just getting home from a work trip that was disrupted due to flights that had me connecting in Dallas. So getting home has been interesting and requested an extra night in Lubbock. It is cold and rainy right now so I’m hoping the temps don’t drop any more.
A coworker is stuck in Dallas til the end of the week and people on my flight home were UNHAPPY about their travel struggles, so I’m counting my blessings that I wasn’t affected any worse.

Stay warm and safe!
I’m also in Austin. We’re going on 15 hours without power and tree branches obstructing our block on both ends. 😭 Austin Energy is showing that our neighborhood is fully restored but according to our FB group, no one on this side of Mopac is up and running.
I’m grateful that I had a virtual call with my therapist already scheduled for today because I’m very much on edge and having major 2021 flashbacks.
Day 2 of being trapped in this house. No issues with power THANK GOD. My remote work apps are all fucked up so working from home is frustrating and inefficient. We have food but not enough snacky treat food to quell said frustration. I do appreciate not having to wake up to the alarm.
Fine in Houston, but I have friends in Austin who haven't had power since like 5am. Flashbacks to the winter storm indeed, we were talking to one friend about what she could still eat from her fridge and what to move outside for cold storage until her power comes back. Another friend posted a graphic from Austin Emergy saying 70% of customers were without power earlier, but he has gas water heater/stove at least so he was doing ok in that regard. He also shared that a couple of the emergency shelter/warming centers for homeless people had also lost power 😔. Looks like lots of trees down from the ice all over the city. Hopefully the icy rain will stop soon for them and they can start fixing downed lines, etc.
Ok here in DFW with power. We stayed home yesterday, today, and will tomorrow since the morning will be bad. When I walked on my white driveway yesterday I didn't leave any footprints - all ice. I had our big tree over our house trimmed last year so I think that will help.
We were going through PTSD during the December cold snap. Since the power stayed on, and because we have food, firewood, and car fuel, we feel less stressed about this week.
Damn, the Deep Freeze was Feb 15, 2021. Stupid February.
Still no power here. We're going on 90 hours with no end in sight. Last I heard/read, there are still 100,00 homes/businesses/facilities without power with no estimate from Austin Energy as to when they'll have power restored. 😭 We opened all of our windows today since it was warmer outside at 48 degrees than it was in our house. This is such a cluster. I'm going to pull a Ted Cruz next year and leave the state in February. My nerves cannot handle this.

My sister and her family are still without power too and ended up getting an AirBnB in San Antonio for the weekend. We're both in ATX.
