Another alternative I've seen people do, similar to your strawberry idea, is using a onesie with a hat and then baby legs: www.babylegs.com/Costume-C866.aspx
Babies have the worst circulation ever, so they need to be fully clothed from head to toe for a while. Onesies are fine, but you will need to keep her swaddled or blanket-covered or something. And a hat! Even for daily at-home hanging out. Baby-wearing can help alleviate the clothing needs, but a momma has to shower some time, too.

It will be too cold here. I just got a onesie from Carters that sas "My first Halloween" and a pumpkin hat. I'll take some pics and wait til next year when she is bigger.
It's warm, but you will still need her legs/feet covered in pants/leggings/socks.
Oh god. I'm so ill-prepared.
FWIW - this wasn't the case with Caleb. In fact, we didn't even keep a hat on him after he was born. He was overheating with the hat on so the midwife told us not to use one. Don't worry, they'll tell you what to watch for and how to dress her based on that when you give birth.
I didn't get a good picture but I will on Halloween! Actually it's a lot tighter than I thought it would be. I can't believe how much she's grown in 2 weeks CRY!
