DeSantis wants to ban “discriminatory” (actual opposite of discriminatory) courses being offered at ALL public colleges and universities in the state. It started with a Liberal Arts College, New College, by firing its President this week. I hope that college has 0 applicants for next year.
I just can’t imagine all of the great state schools there surviving this.

There are so many great schools, and many qualify for entirely free tuition and sometimes stipend.
"Florida Medallion Scholars must hold a minimum 3.0 weighted GPA. Additionally, they must obtain a minimum score of 25 on the ACT or 1210 on the SAT. They must also complete at least 75 service hours." That gets you 100% and is within reach for a lot of students.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”

FMS is the 75%* tuition & fees level, FAS- the 100%* level- requires 3.5 recalculated weighted GPA, 1330/29, and 100 hours of work or CS.
*No longer a sure thing for all 120 hours, as "legislative process" can alter award amounts now.

Thanks for the correction. I think the flexibility on hours was a covid related thing.
People often stay in the state where they attended college. Make your colleges so politiclly awful that the people who don't agree with you feel forced to look out of state and you've deliberately brain drained your college educated liberals. Right wing zealots come in from outside, and people in the middle who stay are bathed in a conservative cesspool during those crucial, formative years.

There's already been a brain drain of professors. Not all students can go out of state, so they won't get the education they deserve. They won't be able to leave upon graduation if employers know that FL degrees will become inadequate.
