My father's funeral is Monday. We gave ourselves a month to allow family/friends to be here from out of town, but it's going to be days long, and I just feel kind of detached right now. My BFF is coming in early with her daughter and H, so we're going to hang out in the city tonight and then she's taking DS while I go to my mom's tomorrow all day to greet like 30 people. Then Monday, we have the visitation (he's cremated, so I guess we just mill and talk to people) and a service and then the internment and a memorial luncheon (that doesn't take place until 2) and then back to my mom's house, and then another day of at-home reception while out of towners are still here. I just want it to be over and feel guilty for wishing that.
circa1978, huge hugs to you. Honestly I felt the same about my mom’s calling hours and funeral. It’s an exhausting time. I know it’s purposeful, people need that time, but it still just felt like one more thing to get through.

circa1978 please do not feel guilty, that is a very normal sentiment. MIL's visitation and service were brutal. I can remember sitting with DH, his siblings and FIL and we all felt the service was for everyone else and we just wanted it over ASAP. We felt relief once the luncheon ended. One of my best friends took me out for a pitcher of margaritas after to celebrate making it thru.

A month or so ago I mentioned to DH that it would be nice to have an electric outlet in our pantry. He just went in the pantry with his toolbox and is adding one. I forget what I was thinking of using it for, but since he's doing it I feel like I need to use it it for something.
Eta The man has hung shelves and replaced privacy film on bathroom shower windows. I'm thinking what else should I hit him up to do?

I am pregnant (3rd pregnancy in 6 months so my confidence level isn’t great yet about being/staying pregnant) and the morning sickness (actually all day sickness) is brutal. I’ve felt like I’m on the edge of puking for the last 4 hours. Ugh.
We took a chance last night and invited over another couple that we have mutual friends with but don't know super well; we come across them in town a lot and they're always fun to talk to, and I was kind of buzzed from drinks at dinner and told H we should see if they wanted to stop over for a drink (they live right down the street from us). They ended up coming over and were here for about 3 hours talking and it was really fun! It's hard to make new friends in your late 30s lol, so I'm proud of us for trying. I'm a little hungover today but surviving.
Monday is my bday so we're celebrating today. Dropping DS off with my mom and heading to check out a new brewery, and then we have reservations at a sushi/Thai place for dinner. 4 friends are joining us. Should be fun! We'll go back to my parents to pick DS up tomorrow morning and my dad is making brunch.
My H is at a car show this morning and texted me a picture of a VW ID4. I had never even heard of it, but now I want one.
My car is about 10 years old-- it has very low mileage and probably has a lot of life left in it but the gas mileage is embarrassingly bad.
I'm assuming that there is an app or something to locate e-vehicle chargers if you are on a road trip? I need to look into this more.
New VW electric vehicles come with charging at Electrify America stations and they do have an app (but I think the car's nav system can also tell you were to go). www.electrifyamerica.com
My H's next car is going to be electric, and he's been watching all kinds of electric car reviews on YouTube for years. There are people who just go on road trips and review charging stations in Walmart parking lots. It's kind of weird, and kind of fascinating at the same time. There was one guy who was like, reviewing convenience store fried chicken along the way too.

We’re at our row house for a few weeks. We have cleaners here for a deep clean, first time in my adult life to get cleaners. We’re hiding out in my partner’s music studio right now while they’re here. I’m so excited to go upstairs when they’re done to see the sparkle, hopefully I’m not disappointed. But I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve waiting for Christmas morning lol.
I'm at basketball game #2 and will be taking my kid and friend to their friend's play. Then, a quick trip to Trader Joe's for meat and cheese dinner plate fixings. It's also warmed up to 40 degrees, a welcome change from yesterday's -1. Today's pretty great.

I finally put my small Christmas tree and ornaments away.
I unpacked from our last vacation, and found 2 pair of leggings I forgot I had. I vaguely remember buying them, but I thought I was imagining it, since I could never find them! 🤣

After my workout, the iPad needed an update, so I wanted to hang around downstairs incase it needed to be prodded along. To occupy my time I did a minor mending project I've been putting off for about 4 months (because my sewing machine and I don't get along).
Was I lazy and used white thread on something red? Yes. But was it good enough because the machine was already setup that way, I didn't spend 30 minutes fighting with a horked bobbin like I often do when sewing? Also yes. Plus even though the edging on the bag where the fix was going was red, the bag is actually red and white floral, so it was complimentary enough.
Anyway, it took me maybe two minutes from start to finish. Three if you count the time I had to spend searching for, and then putting away, the extra machine foot that went flying when I moved my sewing box. I always feel a little silly when I've been procrastinating for so long on something that turns out so easy.
chilerellanos, I got one of those a couple of months ago! It was painful, but the swelling went down pretty quickly and it stopped being painful after a couple of days. It went away on its own.
circa1978 - don’t feel guilty!!! It’s normal to want it to be over. I was dreading my dad’s funeral, I was surprisingly unemotional, I really think I had gotten most of it out already? Not discounting the grief that was to come, the next 6 months were the strangest of my life. I’ll be thinking about you! ((Hugs))
Ok douche, go ahead and call it mud. My husband DID have halitosis. We addressed it after I talked to you girls on here and guess what? Years later, no problem. Mofongo, you're a cunt. Eat shit. ~anonnamus
We went skiing today. It was sunny and warm. The first hour or so once we got there was pretty painful (forgotten socks, dropped DS2's tip trainer, DS1 apparently didn't have his pass, which I didn't realize until we got to the gates in the lift line, etc.), but we ended up having a good day. We went on a lift our boys haven't been on before because it mostly services black terrain and just a few blues. We did a couple of blues and on our last run, ended up moving over to a black groomer, so at 5 and 7, my kids have technically done a black run. I'm proud of both of them. They work hard and take our coaching, and, more importantly, really seem to enjoy themselves.
I got most of my errands run after we got home, so just need to do some meal prep tomorrow and help DS2 with a project for his 100th day of school. Then I can pack for my Sedona trip!

Update? 😀
The house looks great!! So well worth the $410. No disappointment at all, definitely the adult version of Christmas morning lol.
My H is taking my older one skiing so I’m taking the younger one out for a special day. I’m thinking a local play place and then a happy meal. He rarely gets special one on one time so I’m excited for him. 😊 Hopefully the play place is as empty as I remember them being early on a Sunday and we can leave when it gets more crowded.
Slept until 730 this morning which is rare. I was up with E at 11 because she had to go the bathroom and then was half asleep and very confused. So took me awhile to go back to sleep.
DH is vacuuming and I swear he’s half blind. I have reminded him for our entire relationship to move things and use the attachments. He can’t just vacuum the floors. Still doesn’t sink in. I reminded him again to go behind the dog crate and get the tool to do the baseboards downstairs. Dude, you don’t get credit for a half assed job. 🤦🏼♀️

DH and I had a date night last night. We just went to a restaurant in our town, but it was so nice. He travels during the week so when he gets home on Thursday nights, he just wants to hang at home with the kids. Yesterday he took them to swimming lessons and texted me, “I got a sitter. We’re going to dinner. Be ready by 6”. We talked and had a few drinks and a nice meal. It’s been awhile and we both needed it.
We were talking about what to do next with our house. We both love house projects and he’s a GC, so it comes naturally to us to talk about what’s next. We have been talking for awhile about adding on a 3-season room, but decided last night the smart money is to do our exterior first. We need new siding soonish and want to do Hardie siding ($$$$$), all the gutters, trim and fascia. We will probably do our windows at the same time. They don’t really need to be done but the owners before us put in new windows that are cherry wood on the inside and I hate them. As part of all this, we’re trying to decided if we totally change the look of the house and paint our salmon-pink brick too. I’m usually very good with design, but this one is throwing me and I don’t know which direction to go.

This is the “dream car” that my H got, from the petty thread. It drives like a dream!
It looks awesome! My son was just raving about it again this morning. Dealerships arent open on Sundays here, but I think we might go look at one this week.
I'm glad to hear that you like yours, even if your H was a turd about the way he bought it.
Thank you, Internet! I was able to figure out why my new phone wasn't pairing with my CR-V, so now I'm a happy girl again. AND I adulted and finished my taxes (they owe me $$, so gimme!). I still have to do my mother's taxes, but I don't have all her forms yet.
And now I'm going to take my lazy ass to the sofa and relax.
